A method for everyday cleaning of a hard floor surface of stone or stone-like material comprises treatment of the surface with a flexible pad (1) comprising an open, lofty, three dimensional non-woven web of fibers, in the presence of abrasive particles, bonded to the pad, on a contact surface between the pad (1) and the hard surface. The abrasive particles have an average diameter of 0.1 to 30 µm. The treatment is performed using a scrubber/dryer floor surfacing machine. The method is performed in the presence of water on the contact surface. The treatment is performed in the absence of an effective amount of crystallization agent on the contact surface. The treatment causes a gloss value of the hard floor surface to increase.
