    摘要: In a vehicle occupant restraint system provided in association with a vehicle seat for preventing a vehicle occupant from slipping forward under a seat belt in an impact situation such as a vehicle crash, a pair of support members are provided on either side of the seat frame, and pivotally support a pair of arms across which a cross member extends. The cross member comprises an energy absorbing structure adapted to undergo a controlled deformation under a load occurring as the front part of the seat bottom is raised. The energy absorbing structure may consist of a relatively deformable member wrapped around the cross member or a feature for controlling a mode of deformation of the cross member. When the cross member consists of a pipe member, the energy absorbing structure may comprise a relatively deformable member filled inside the pipe member or perforations formed in the pipe member.

    摘要: In an electroconductive contact probe unit, the electroconductive needle member is axially slidably received in a support hole formed in an insulating support plate, and is urged by the compression coil spring wound around a stem portion of the electroconductive needle member in a direction to project out of the support hole. The inner end of the compression coil spring is provided with a closely wound portion in which adjacent turns of the coil wire contact each other in the free state of the compression coil spring. As the support plate is lowered toward the object to be tested and the compression coil spring is compressed, the compression coils snakes or otherwise curves in the support hole, causing the inner surface of the closely wound portion to come into contact with the outer circumferential surface of the stem portion. Thus, the electric signal is conducted axially through the closely wound portion, instead of the spiral path along a coarsely wound portion of the compression coil spring so that the inductance and the electric resistance of the contact probe unit can be reduced. At the same time, the coarsely wound portion of the compression coil spring provides the necessary spring force for the needle member.

    摘要: The method for fabricating a planar optical waveguide device having a plurality of core segments (4) formed between a lower clad layer (2) and an upper clad layer (5) includes the step of carrying out a hot isostatic pressing process (HIP) out during the fabrication process. The lower clad layer may consist of a substrate (2) or a buffer layer formed on a substrate. Each layer may be formed either by a low-temperature film-forming process such as CVD or by the flame hydrolysis pressing process. The HIP process is also effective in eliminating voids when the core is formed in a recess of the lower clad layer. It was found that the HIP process can be conducted without requiring any protective layer or a gas barrier through proper selection of the condition for the HIP process, as opposed to the common belief that a protective layer or a gas barrier is essential for the HIP process.
