    摘要: A diaphragm valve for high pressure use has a metal diaphragm which is actuated into and out of direct engagement with a valve seat by an air operator acting through a force multiplying lever assembly. The valve seat is confined by rigid interior and exterior sleeves while the sealing surface is contoured to have a concave configuration corresponding to the contour of the diaphragm in its deflected position. The air operator is provided with a stroke adjustment mechanism that is locked in adjusted position by a member that is generally accessible only when the operator is disconnected from the valve.

A valve element (24) is positioned in the chamber (18) and has an operating stem (30) with a free end extending axially therefrom. An actuating assembly (14) for moving the valve element (24) towards and away from the seat (28), includes a rotatably mounted actuating shaft (58) having a free end axially aligned with the free end of the operating stem (30) and a handle (60) for producing axial movement of the actuating shaft (58). The operating stem (30) is joined to the actuating shaft (58) by a connection including a first ball (80) positioned axially between the free ends of the operating stem (30) and the actuating shaft (58) with a spring (86) engaged with the first ball (80) and acting to bias the free ends of the operating stem (30) and actuating shaft (58) axially apart. A plurality of second balls (94) interconnect the stem (30) and shaft (58) for preventing axial separation of the free ends while permitting free relative rotation therebetween.

    摘要: A diaphragm-type valve uses a multiple annular metal diaphragm (36) welded about its inner periphery to a valve operating stem (34). The diaphragm is sealingly clamped about its outer periphery to the valve body and is also clamped about its inner periphery at a location spaced outwardly of the weld to prevent the weld from being subjected to flexure stresses during valve actuation. The outer periphery of the diaphragm (36′) may be welded to the valve body (10′) outwardly of the outer clamp. The actuating assembly (20) is arranged to produce non-rotary, reciprocatory movement of the operating stem (34) through a bonnet mounted rotary actuator (116). A stem tip seal (16) comprises a metallic seal ring (152) backed by a PTFE ring (158) and surrounded by a harder plastics ring (160) held captive by a sleeve (166).

Between the spring (62) and the valve element (60) is a stop member (64) including a plurality of radially spaced, axially extending force applying elements (98) engaging the central section (66) of the valve element (60). The stop member (64) also includes a guide surface (95) radially outwardly of the force-applying elements (98) for sliding engagement with the wall (48) of the valve chamber (56) at a location axially spaced from the valve element (60).

    摘要: An inverted bellows valve has a two-piece stem (44) interconnecting the valve and actuator for reciprocating axial movement of the step tip (48). Tapered surfaces (224,230) are advantageously utilized between co-operating elements for self-centering the valve assembly. An annular gland (126) disposed along the exterior of the valve stem (44) has concentric inner and outer 0-rings (132, 134) which permit the stem .to float and compensate for misalignment. A wobble collar (226) is also disposed in abutting engagement with the stem 844) to compensate for uneven spring forces which could otherwise cock the stem. The bellows subassembly is removable in one piece to facilitate maintenance and replacement.
