A method for production on the same line of production of a plurality of tires having different features, distributed in at least two separate series, each of identical tires, one series differing form the other series by at least one structural or dimensional feature of the cited different tires, comprising the following productive steps: subdividing the number of tires (1) comprised in each series into a plurality of lots constituted of a predefined number of tires, wherein the number of tires contained in the lot is smaller than the number of corresponding green tires (2) which can be produced on said line in the space of 24 hours; producing the aforementioned plurality of tires (1) in intermittent mode, in arrangements of successive lots, alternating the production of one lot of green tires belonging to one predetermined series with the production of another lot of green tires belonging to a different series.

Mould parts of a mould for vehicle tyres, such as sector matrices in a centripetal mould, are made by sintering of a metal- or ceramic-based powder (3) cyclically deposited in consecutively superposed layers. Deposition of each layer is followed by sintering of the powder by a laser beam (8) moving within previously defined areas delimiting contours of the sintered laminate portion thus obtained. Movement of the laser beam (8) is managed by a programmable electronic control unit (11) in which digital information defining the three-dimensional graphic representation of the mould portion to be obtained is stored. The digital information is processed for dividing the graphic representation into superposed layers corresponding each to one of the laminate portions to be obtained by sintering of the corresponding powder layer. Thus moulds of sintered material are obtained, which are provided with inner microcavities enabling air ejection during the tyre vulcanization.

In an equatorial zone (E) of the thread band (8), the inlet wall (13) of the grooves (11) is inclined with respect to the bottom (12) of the same towards the tire rolling direction, and forms an angle (α) of from 50° to 80° with respect to a plane (π) tangent to bottom (12).

A vulcanizable rubber composition is described comprising a cross-linkable unsaturated chain polymer base including natural rubber, at least a copolymer obtainable by polymerizing a conjugated diolefin with a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon, and a main carbon black-based reinforcing filler, wherein:
a) the copolymer is obtainable by polimerizing in 1,2 form with the vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon at least 50% by weight of the conjugated diolefin, so as to obtain in the copolymer a quantity of from 30% to 70% by weight to the total weight of the same of an olefin fraction having a 1,2 structure, and b) the carbon black has a DBP absorption value measured according to ISO 4656-1 equal to at least 110 ml/100 g, a reduction in the DBP absorption value measured after compression according to ISO 6894 equal to at least 25 ml/100 g and a surface area measured by means of CTAB absorption according to ISO 6810 not greater than 120 m 2 /g.

In a vulcanization mould (2) for vehicle tyres the rubber blend deposits are cleaned off by the action of one or more laser beams (9) supplied in the form of short-duration and high-energy pulses, which beams cause separation of the rubber blend by effect of the shock wave generated by them and hitting the operating surfaces of the mould (2). Each laser beam (9) is guided by a scanning unit (21a, 21b) mounted on a rotating column (16) for distributing the beam action over the whole circumferential extension of the mould.

A tyre for motor-vehicles is described the belt structure (3) of which has consecutively overlapped first and second belt strips (5, 6) and a pair of side straps (7) overlying the second belt strip (6) adjacent to the side edges (6a) of said second belt strip and each made up of at least one cord circumferentially wound in a plurality of coils to form two radially superposed layers of coils disposed in axial side by side relation. The first belt strip (5), located adjacent to the carcass structure (2), substantially has the same width as the tread band (4), and laterally projects from the second belt strip (6) radially overlapped therewith. The second belt strip (6) has side flaps (6b) projecting from the side straps (7) and spaced apart from the first belt strip (5) by a progressively growing measure away from the outer edges (7a) of the side straps themselves. These side straps axially project inwardly with respect to the position corresponding to the groove bottom of the axially outermost circumferential groove.

The tread pattern (3) of a radial tyre for motor-vehicles offering high performance comprises oblique longitudinal grooves (7), inclined to the circumferential direction of the tyre by an angle included between 2° and 20°, the opposite ends (7h, 7k) of said grooves being axially offset relative to one another: all grooves may be inclined (7) in the same direction or may converge (9), preferably symmetrically, towards the meridian plane of the tyre, specifically for directional patterns. The longitudinal grooves (7) are associated with a plurality of transverse grooves (8) exhibiting their central portion inclined in the opposite way relative to the longitudinal grooves, according to an angle included between 30° and 80°, with respect to the circumferential tyre direction. The combination of the longitudinal (7) and transverse (8) grooves according to the established inclinations confines (6) developing, on the tyre contact-area, tangential forces generally combining with one another thereby generating a resultant force having the axial component (drift force) of substantially zero value.

A vulcanizable rubber composition is described comprising a cross-linkable unsaturated chain polymeric base, wherein is incorporated at least one organic compound, solid at room temperature, selected from the group comprising: amorphous or semicrystalline polymers, oligomers, low-molecular weight organic substances and mixtures thereof, which compound is substantially insoluble in the polymeric base and shows a first or second order transition temperature of from 80 to 160°C. Such rubber composition allows the manufacture of treads with either a low rolling resistance at the temperature of normal use of the tyre (40°-70°C), or a high grip when the tread is subjected to thermal stresses exceeding such temperatures.
