The invention relates to a rolling unit (1) having three rollers (3,4,5) with axes arranged at 120°, wherein the main roller shaft (6) derives its motion from a drive (9) and transmits it to the shafts (7,8) of the other two rollers (4,5) through bevel gears (10,11). To simplify the assembly and service procedures, as well as to improve the roller adjustment facilities, the main roller (3) is carried on a supporting body (12) which can be removably positioned on the unit casing (2) to allow axial adjustment of the main roller (3). The respective shaft (6) engages rotatively, but in an axially slidable manner, with a coupling shaft (24) connected to the drive (9). The supporting body (12) may be attached to the casing (2) radially, thereby it becomes possible to assemble the main shaft (6) together with the roller (3), bearings (13) and gears (10), and then secure the supporting body (12) on the casing (2).

A machine for producing metal strips by continuous casting, particularly for producing very wide metal strips, the machine comprising: a drum (3), with a horizontal axis (3a) and rotatable about its own axis (3a), having, on its lateral surface, a recess (4) which forms the bottom (4a) and two mutually opposite side walls (4b, 4c) of a continuous-casting die; a continuous belt (5), running along a closed path and wrapping, for part of its extension, around a portion of the lateral surface of the drum (3), resting on the edges (6, 7) that delimit the recess (4) in order to close the continuous-casting die; tensioning means (10, 11) which act on the belt (5); means (13) being provided for conveying molten metal into the continuous-casting die in the region closed by the continuous belt (5), as well as means (14, 23) for cooling the regions of the continuous belt (5) and of the drum (3) which are in contact with the metal conveyed into the continuous-casting die. The continuous belt (5) is made of a material that can be polarized magnetically, and means (16) are provided for generating a magnetic field affecting the continuous belt (5) over at least part of its region which is in contact with the drum (3) starting from the region where the molten metal is cast into the continuous-casting die, in order to contrast, by means of magnetic forces, a deformation of the continuous belt (5), keeping it parallel to the outer lateral surface of the drum (3).

A machine for manufacturing continuous bars of nonferrous metal by continuous casting, comprising a movable casting shell (2), composed of a plurality of segments (3) arranged in succession, each one having a portion defined, with a bottom (3a) and flanks (3b, 3c), of the casting shell (2), and open on the sides directed toward the contiguous segments (3). The segments (3) are movable along a closed path that has a substantially rectilinear portion (4) at the casting region (5). Along the portion (4), the segments (3) are substantially aligned and define a portion of the casting shell (2), with bottom and flanks, which is continuous, substantially rectilinear and closed, for at least one portion of the path downstream of the casting region (5), by closure means (6) at its side that lies opposite with respect to the bottom. Downstream of the substantially rectilinear portion (4), the path of the segments (3) has a change of direction in order to cause the progressive disengagement of the casting shell (2) from the metal bar (7) produced by the solidification of the metal in the casting shell (2). The closure means (6) comprise a belt (16) which extends along a closed path and is supported by corresponding supporting means (17). The machine comprises means (18) for pressing a substantially rectilinear portion of the belt (16), which faces the substantially rectilinear portion (4) of the path of the segments (3), against the side of the segments (3) that is opposite with respect to their bottom (3a). The means (17) for supporting the belt (16) comprise at least two supporting rollers (19a, 19b) and at least one tension roller (21), which have mutually parallel axes that are oriented substantially at right angles to the substantially rectilinear portion (4) of the path of the segments (3). The supporting rollers (19a, 19b) are mounted in a fixed position on a same beam (20) which extends substantially parallel to the substantially rectilinear portion (4) of the path of the segments (3).

Upstream from the rolling unit (1), the larger-diameter bar or wire rod (5) is subjected to the action of free rollers (7,8) whose profiles (7b,8b) are suitable to deform the larger-diameter bar or wire rod according to a shape which produces, in output from the rolling unit (1), a bar or wire rod (5) whose cross-section is round and has a smaller diameter.
