摘要: A building structure (10) adapted to allow for ventilation of vapors from within the structure (10) so as to retard deterioration of the structure (10). The building structure (10) has a roof (19) extending over one or more vertical side walls (26). An attic space (40) is enclosed between the roof (19) and an internal ceiling (38). The roof (19) is constructed on a plurality of parallel rafters (20). The rafters (20) are supported by a top plate (16) capping each vertical side wall (26). The roof (19) has a roof sheathing member (42) overlying the roof rafters (20). A fascia (50) is secured to the outer ends of the rafters (20). An air permeable and resilient strip (52) is interposed between the fascia (50) and the outer ends of the rafters (20) to provide for the flow of vapor therebetween and into the attic (40).

摘要: A building structure adapted to allow for ventilation of vapors from within the structure so as to retard deterioration of the structure. A sloped roof (12) has a decking (14) and a sheet (16) overlying the decking. The sheet (16) has a plurality of projections (28) projecting upward away from the decking. The sloped roof has a vent slot (26) disposed along a roof ridge (20) adapted to permit air from an interior space under the roof to flow through the slot to the exterior. A strip (30) has a surface (44) shaped to match the projections (28) of the sheet. The strip has an air permeable and resilient portion. A ridge cap (24) overlies the slot (26) and the strip (30). The air permeable and resilient portion of the strip is adapted for the flow of vapors.

摘要: A nail (10) and a method using the nail (10) for securing two materials together spaced by an interposed resilient material (22). The nail (10) has a shaft (32) having a first end and a second end. The nail has a head extending radially around the shaft (32) at the first end. The second end of the shaft (32) has a point (34). A sleeve (30) has generally a cylindrical shape and a pair of ends (38). The sleeve (30) has a cylindrical center portion (40) and a pair of frusto-conical tapered portions (42). The method comprises the steps of laying the first material against the second material spaced by the resilient material (22), driving the nail (10) through the first material, the resilient material (22) and into the second material with the point (34) of the shaft (32) piercing the resilient material (22) and into the second material with the point (34) of the shaft (32) piercing the resilient material (22) and the second material.

摘要: A non-woven mesh guard which can be inserted into a downspout opening in a rain gutter in order to prevent debris from entering the downspout is provided. The non-woven mesh includes a large free area to allow for the flow of water therethrough while preventing debris from entering the downspout. Anchor pins are installed in the guard to prevent it from being forced too far down into the downspout opening. Alternatively, the non-woven material may be formed such that it includes an enlarged top portion which rests in the base of the gutter over the downspout opening while a reduced size portion is inserted into the downspout.

摘要: A profiled ridge vent for tile roofs is provided having a vent strip located on each side of a roof ridge. Each vent strip includes a vent material, formed from a non-woven mat, including a first surface, contoured to a profile to match a profile of the tile roof, and a second surface. An upper water barrier is attached to the second surface of at least one of the vent strips and extends over the roof ridge. A water dam is attached to the first surface and extends in an up-slope direction toward the roof ridge. In use, a first vent strip is located on a first side of a roof ridge pole, and a second vent strip is located on a second side of the roof ridge pole.

The non-woven mesh includes a large free area to allow for the flow of water therethrough while preventing debris from entering the downspout. A plurality of small channels (52) extending through the guard to allow small debris to be carried down and out through the downspout. An optional blocking/shedding fence (70) may be fitted to the guard (50) by means of a spike (74) in such a way as to lie in the rain gutter (16) to prevent large debris from reaching the guard.
