摘要:
Apparatus and associated methods for a wound valve assembly provide an annular space extending radially around a central portion of a valve, which valve acts to substantially relieve pressure build up in a thoracic cavity when applied to a thoracic wound. In an illustrative example, the valve assembly may form an annular space that extends radially in all directions around a check valve. In some examples, gasses and exudates may flow substantially radially and/or parallel to the patient's local body. Various embodiments may advantageously provide open fluid communication for the gasses and exudates escaping from the wound when the valve assembly is partially covered (e.g., body armor, clothing, blankets), or when the patient may be laying down on the side of the body with the wound, for example.

A medical dressing (10) has a flexible panel (12) with adhesive on one side (16) for attaching to the skin of the patient about a wound. A one-way valve assembly (14) is mounted over an opening in the panel and includes a valve body (26) defining two separate fluid passages (66, 68). A valve member (64) is configured to permit air and or/other fluids to flow through a first of the passages (66) in an outward direction only so that air and/or other fluids are able to exit the wound through the first passage but are prevented from entering the wound through the first passage. A removable closure member (70) is provided for selectively closing the second passage (68) to prevent fluid flow through the second passage. The closure member (70) can be removed to enable direct access to the wound through the second passage (68). The dressing is particularly suitable for use in occluding an open chest wound.

A sports garment capable of producing the same effects as taping, and of preventing various sports injuries is provided through a simple method in which a taping theory is applied to actively endow a sports garment with frictional resistance with respect to a body (skin surface) so as to create an environment in which muscles, joints, and other parts move in appropriate ranges. A garment body (2) is formed using a material that has low frictional resistance and slides easily against the skin surface of a body (1); a resistance lining part (3) is formed on the internal surface of the garment body (2) using a material that has high frictional resistance and does not easily slide against the skin surface of a body (1); and the resistance lining part (3) is formed in a direction whereby the same effects are obtained as a taping effect in which tape is wrapped onto a body (1) to restrict movement of muscles, joints, and other parts so as to prevent contusions, bruising, muscle strain, sprain, bone fracture, and other injury.

The present invention relates to a bandage which preferably has a greater length than width and which comprises a centre part (1a) and bandage securing ends (1b, 1c) located on mutually opposite sides of the centre part. Only the securing ends of the bandage are provided on one side thereof with an adhesive coating for securing the securing ends to an area of skin. One securing end (1c) is intended to be affixed to a skin area (2) in the lumbar region while the other securing end (1b) is intended to be affixed to a skin area (3) in the region of the lower or intermediate thoraic vertebrae The length of the tape (1) between the securing ends (1b, 1c) when the back is straight and in the correct posture (Figure 1) is slightly shorter than the distance between the aforementioned skin areas when measured via the small of the back (4). The centre part (1a) is detachably attached to one or both securing ends (1b, 1c) by means of a Velcro-tape attachment.
