摘要: A vacuum pump may be used to attach a prosthetic and/or orthotic device to a residual limb. The vacuum pump may be in line below a socket of a residual limb. The socket may be a portion of the prosthesis that accepts the residual limb. The vacuum pump may generate a vacuum condition between the prosthesis and the residual limb. Generally, a vacuum condition may be generated between a socket and the residual limb. The residual limb may be covered with a sock, elastomeric liner, or sheath covering the limb. The vacuum condition may positively attach the prosthesis to the residual limb without the need for straps, retaining pins, or suction type vacuum which do not use a vacuum pump.

摘要: An actuator control system includes a motorized joint having first and second members rotatable relative to one another. An actuator is coupled with the motorized joint and is configured to rotate the first member relative to the second member in response to an input including a voltage, a current, or any combination thereof. A controller is coupled with the actuator and is configured to control the input using a control algorithm. The control algorithm controls the input based upon a mathematical model of biological muscle actuation that models titin as a filament which winds around actin during muscle actuation. In implementations the mathematical model includes mathematical representations of a contractile element, a viscous damping element in parallel with the contractile element, and a spring in series with the contractile element through a pulley and simultaneously in parallel with the contractile element.

摘要: Prosthetic feet and foot covers that provide a more natural appearance and improved performance are provided. A foot element for a prosthetic foot can extend from a heel end to a toe end and include a heel, arch, forefoot, and toe regions. The forefoot region can be wider than the arch and heel regions. The toe region can include a U-shaped cut out to define a big toe. Various features of the foot element can guide rollover of the foot through the big toe during use. A foot cover can be designed to receive a prosthetic foot including such a foot element. The foot cover can have a region of increased flexibility at a transition between the forefoot region and toe region. The foot cover can also have a padded area extending from the heel region across a lateral part of the arch region and forefoot region.

In one example, the system, such as a prosthetic or orthotic system, includes an actuator (116) that actively controls, or adjusts, the angle between a foot unit (104) and a lower limb member (102). A processing module may control movement of the actuator (116) based on data obtained from a sensor module. For instance, sensing module data may include information relating to the gait of a user and may be used to adjust the foot unit to substantially mimic the movement of a natural, healthy ankle. The system may further accommodate, for example, level ground walking, traveling up/down stairs, traveling up/down sloped surfaces, and various other user movements. In addition, the processing module may receive user input or display output signals through an external interface.; For example, the processing module may receive a heel height input from the user.

The first member and the second member are preloaded to provide an arrangement of the first and the second joints in which a motion of the first joints with respect to the second joints is constrained to a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis. The devices further include a sensor (140) for generating a signal indicating a separation between the first member and the second member.
