A cleaning catheter insertable into a ventilation tube and an input module are provided, the input module coupled to the cleaning catheter and including (i) an inflation module, including an inflation chamber and a one-way air inlet valve; (ii) a flow regulator, configured to assume first and second fluid-control states; and (iii) a mechanical user control element, which is configured (a) to mechanically and non-electrically set the fluid-control states, (b) to assume first and second configurations, and (c) to mechanically and non-electrically increase pressure in an interior of an inflation chamber of the cleaning catheter during a transition of the mechanical user control element from the first configuration to the second configuration. The one-way air inlet valve is arranged to allow air to flow into the inflation chamber during a transition of the mechanical user control element from the second configuration to the first configuration.

Devices and methods for vacuum-assisted removal of surgically contaminated gas from an insufflated body cavity, the contaminants comprising smoke, aerosols, vapor, mist and the like generated during surgical procedures in order to clear the surgeon's vision of the surgical site and prevent exposure of the surgical staff to the gas. One embodiment of the present invention comprises a series of flow restriction devices to enable stepping down of the flow rate generated by an external vacuum. This reduced flow rate allows safe yet rapid removal of the toxic and vision-obstructing surgical byproducts from the patient's body cavity. The initial flow restriction device may comprise a perforated trocar sleeve in fluid communication with the vacuum source that allows retention of the surgical instrument within the trocar's inner lumen with concurrent smoke removal. The flow rate is infinitely variable, adjustable and selectable using a flow control adjuster comprising a smoothly varying orifice.

A medical fluid applicator (1) for dispensing a fluid onto biological tissues in tissue adhesive or sealant applications includes a dispensing pathway (5) with an audible loudness indicator (200) that signals the cumulative amount of fluid delivered by varying the pitch or tone of audible signals emitted at discrete volumetric increments. A suction pathway (7) is also included for applying vacuum pressure to the applicator tip (10) contemporaneous with the fluid application. The medical fluid applicator (1) further includes a clearing pathway (8) for retrogradely withdrawing coagulated mixed fluids, such as mixed two-part tissue adhesives from the applicator tip (10).

摘要:
The invention relates to a medical valve mechanism for suction and/or flushing tubes of medical instruments, comprising a valve housing (1) that is provided with a continuous bore (2), and a valve member (3) which is movably mounted in the valve housing (1) and via which the continuous bore (2) can be closed and opened again. The aim of the invention is create a medical valve mechanism which allows the volume flow that is to be regulated to be adjusted in a reproducible manner. Said aim is achieved by embodying the valve member (3) as a plunger (6) which can be displaced substantially perpendicular to the continuous bore (2) via an adjusting drive (4), a rotational movement of said adjusting drive (4) being translatable into an axial movement of the plunger (6).

The invention concerns a handpiece for surgical or medical use characterised in that it is used for remotely controlling the operation of the appliance(s) which power said handpiece or related to the intervention, by pneumatic variation brought about by a digital touch from the operator of a fluid transported by a conduit connecting the handpiece to a pressure or vacuum generator (34), said variation constituting a signal used for performing after detection, processing or execution of the operating command(s) of one or several appliances related to the intervention. The control method consists in forming one or several breaks of pressure or vacuum by a digital touch from the operator on the handpiece body, detecting said breaks and using the detection signals to control remotely an appliance related to the intervention performed with said handpiece. The invention is useful for all manufacturers of handpieces.
