摘要： A snowboard boot and binding system is disclosed which facilitates the engagement and disengagement of a snowboard boot and binding. The snowboard boot may include a boot engagement member extending from a rear of the boot. The boot engagement member is moved downwardly into a corresponding binding engagement member to provide an arrangement which prevents forward movement of the boot. The boot engagement member also may include one or more serrations to engage with one or more pawls on the binding to prevent upward movement of the boot. A snap-in arrangement may be provided in a boot toe region. The boot has protrusions extending outwardly from each side of the boot to engage with catches on the binding sidewalls. As the boot is pressed downwardly into the binding, the protrusions splay the catches until reaching recesses, at which point the catches rebound to capture the protrusions against upward movement.

摘要： A snowboard binding 12 comprises a base 22, a front binding arrangement and a rear binding arrangement. One of the front and rear binding arrangements is a binding member 24 and the other is a binding mechanism 26, which includes a catch, a latch and a stationary guide. The catch moves between release and latched positions. The latch selectively holds the catch in at least one latched position. The stationary guide is fixed to the base 22 to form a cleat insertion opening between the catch and the stationary guide. Preferably, the binding member is a front binding member 24 and the binding mechanism is a rear binding mechanism 26. The catch preferably pivots about a pivot axis that is spaced rearwardly on the base 22 from a pivot axis of the latch. In an alternate embodiment, the front and rear binding arrangements are reversed on the base 22.

Both ear pieces are adjusted and separated from each other substantially in a direction along a major axis of a shoe, and are generally positioned in the shoe. Formed on a sole of the shoe are recess (936) which permits the finger side engaging member (756) to engage with the engaging member (756) for moving, and another recess (946) which permits the heel side engaging piece (770) to move so as to engage with the latch (680). Engagement between the engaging members and the engaging pieces is effected by a stepping-in action. The cleat is located in the recess of the sole of the shoe and higher than a surface of the snow board, so that malfunction of the engaging mechanism will not be caused by gripping on snow.

The first release (24) enables either the toe latch (20) or the heel latch (22) to be disengaged from the foot plate (18). The foot plate (18) includes a toe support (28) and a heel support (30). The toe support (28) is disposed at a front portion of the shoe plate (18) similar to the front portion of the base plate (14) and while the heel support (30) is disposed at a rear portion of the shoe plate (18). The shoe plate (18) removably attaches to the base plate (14) with the toe support (28) engaged with the toe latch (20) and the heel support (30) engaged with the heel latch (22). The first release (24) operates to disengage either the toe latch (20) or the heel latch (22) or both from the foot plate (18).

摘要： A releasable fastening for attachment of a boot to a snowboard comprises a mounting member which, in use, is fixed to the snowboard, and a support member which is rotatable relative to the mounting member. First and second jaws are mounted on the support member for engagement with co-operating formations on the boot. Means are provided for releasably holding the support member in a selected one of a plurality of possible angular positions relative to the mounting member and for disengaging at least one of the jaws from the cooperating formations on the boot.
