摘要： Drawing boards and drawing instruments for use therewith. The surface of the board (1) has a set of parallel-running, evenly spaced magnetic poles (2) across it. Each drawing instrument has a cylinder (10) with similar parallel magnetic poles running essentially axially along it. The cylinder is freely rotatably mounted (12) and preferably held a little bit away from the board surface. The cylinder (10) preferentially orientates with its magnetic poles aligned with those (2) on the board surface. This orientation can be accurately maintained across the entire surface of the board without the use of cumbersome mechanical arrangements to ensure alignment of drawing instruments. When not required for use, the drawing instrument may simply be removed from the surface of the board. A ruler/protractor device (3) and a carriage bearing a pair of rules set at right angles are described.

摘要： La présente invention concerne des planches à dessin et des instruments de dessin à utiliser avec lesdites planches. La surface de la planche (1) est traversée par une série de pôles magnétiques (2) s'étendant de façon parallèle et régulièrement espacés. Chaque instrument de dessin comporte un cylindre (10) pourvu de pôles magnétiques parallèles analogues s'étendant de façon essentiellement axiale le long dudit cylindre. Celui-ci est monté de façon librement rotative (12) et est de préférence maintenu un peu à l'écart de la surface de la planche. L'orientation préférentielle du cylindre (10) s'effectue grâce à l'alignement de ses pôles magnétiques avec ceux (2) de la surface de la planche. Cette orientation peut être maintenue de façon précise sur toute la surface de la planche sans qu'il faille recourir à des agencements mécaniques encombrants pour assurer l'alignement des instruments de dessin. Lorsqu'il n'est pas utilisé, ledit instrument de dessin peut simplement être retiré de la surface de la planche. Un dispositif à règle/rapporteur (3) et un chariot portant une paire de règles graduées disposées à angles droits sont décrits.
