In one embodiment, the flexible segment (120) includes at least one projection (412) extending from an aperture wall which engages the applicator (20) as the applicator (20) is pulled through the deformed aperture in the flexible segment (120). In a preferred embodiment, the applique is mascara and the applicator (20) is a mascara brush.
