The invention relates to a method for adapting a tire-pressure monitoring device (1) to a vehicle type, wherein the tire-pressure monitoring device (1) is designed to be attached to a wheel of a vehicle equipped with pneumatic tires and has a device (3) for measuring the air pressure (tire pressure) in the pneumatic tire or a change of the tire pressure, possibly one or more further devices for measuring measured quantities other than the tire pressure, an electrical circuit (4), of which at least a part operates digitally, for controlling the tire-pressure monitoring device (1) and possibly for processing the measured values provided by the measuring devices (3), a memory (5, 6), in which a program for the circuit (4) is stored, an electrical power source (11) for supplying electrical power to the tire-pressure monitoring device (1), and a first transmitter (8), which operates in a first frequency range, for transmitting data from the tire-pressure monitoring device (1) to a first receiver (9) lying outside of the tire-pressure monitoring device (1), wherein initially a basic version of the program is stored in the memory (5, 6), from which basic version of the program a plurality of different versions of the program for a plurality of vehicle types can be developed, and wherein a suitable full version is produced for a selected vehicle type in that program parameters defined for the selected vehicle type are subsequently stored in the memory (5, 6) of the tire-pressure monitoring device (1).

Die Sensor-IC (2) hat einen internen Speicher, in welchem ausführbare Anweisungen und Daten speicherbar sind, welche bei Ausführung die Erfassung und Übermittlung von Druckmessdaten bewirken. Eine Spannungsversorgung (12) ist ebenfalls in dem 20 Gehäuse (1) angeordnet und mit der Sensor-IC (2) gekoppelt. Die Sensor-IC (2) ist weiterhin mit einem im Gehäuse (1) angeordneten zusätzlichen Speicherbaustein (15) gekoppelt, wobei in dem Speicherbaustein eine Mehrzahl von unterschiedlichen Datenpaketen mit jeweiligen Anweisungen oder 25 Daten gespeichert sind. A method for identifying locations of one or more modules of an apparatus implemented in a vehicle for monitoring operation of at least one wheel of the vehicle includes steps of (a) communicating with one or more modules of the apparatus for receiving their identification codes at a processing arrangement of the apparatus, the one or more modules being mounted on at least one wheel of the vehicle; (b) driving the vehicle around a curved trajectory as sensed by the steering sensing arrangement and recording a direction of steering of the vehicle together with a temporal record of the physical parameter measured by the one or more modules together with their corresponding identification codes, the physical parameter pertaining to one or more tires of the at least one wheel; and (c) applying an analysis to the steering direction and the temporal record in respect of time to identify where the one or more modules are located on the at least one wheel of the vehicle, the analysis utilizing a characteristic that tires on an outside of the curved trajectory will experience a different peak values in the temporal record of the physical parameter than tires on an inside of the curved trajectory, and tires towards a front region of the vehicle experience a change in the temporal record of the physical parameter before and/or at a higher rate than tires towards a rear region of the vehicle for a forward direction of travel of vehicle.
