    摘要: @ A tire dismounting method and machine (20) for use in dismounting a tire casing (40) from a wheel rim (22). The machine has a frame adapted to extend diametrically of the rim to span one side thereof adjacent the associated rim flange (24), and to engage diametrically opposite portions of the rim flange (24) to restrain movement of said machine axially relative to the rim, while the rim and tire are supported freely on the floor (42) or the like. A ram (46) is pivotally supported on the frame adjacent one longitudinal end thereof for orientation of the ram with its axis generally parallel to the rim axis in operation of said ram. The ram has a piston with a presser shoe (140) pivotally carried on Its free end for movement in a travel path radially outwardly of and adjacent the rim flanges (24) and generally parallel to the axis of the rim through a working stroke extending axially beyond the remote rim flange (26). The ram is supported for pivotal motion such that the ram axis can move through a range of about 15° from generally parallel to the rim axis to an acute angle intersecting the rim on the machine side of the rim.

    摘要: A tire mounting method and tool for use in mounting a large, heavy off-highway pneumatic tire onto a dual-flanged single piece drop center wheel rim (22) of the type having at each rim flange (24 and 26) a re-entrant lip (28) protruding radially inwardly toward the axis of the rim. The tool has a main frame (40) adapted to be placed upon one side of the wheel rim when the rim is resting horizontally on its axially opposite other side on the ground in a free, unfixtured condition. The frame is longer than the inside diameter of the rim flange lip and slidably rests thereupon, and also slidably grips the rim lip. A pair of arms (106 and 108) each are pivoted at their inboard ends to the main frame at a common pivot point (110) for pivotal counter-rotational movement on opposite sides of the main frame about a pivot axis parallel to the rim axis. A pair of tire-bead-engaging shoes (130 and 130') are carried one on each of the outboard ends of the arms. A pair of hydraulic rams are interconnected one between each of the arms and the main frame for counter-rotating the arms so as to propel said shoes in arcuate paths adjacent and outwardly of the rim flange. The rams are operably interconnected for fluid pressure actuation in a parallel fluid circuit from a common hydraulic pressure fluid source such that in operation of the tool the arms are pivotal about an axis generally co-incident with the axis of the wheel rim, and the entire tool is likewise bodily rotatable about this axis to re-balance unequal tire bead reaction forces exerted on the shoes.

    摘要: The bead breaker is comprised of two blades (50,140) held in immobile spaced relation relative one to the other, the two blades defining two spaced working faces in a common plane adapted to lie flush against the bead area (18) of a tire (14) when the two blades are butted against a rim's flange in initial set up position prior to breaking the tire's bead away from the rim. The blades (36,37) are preferably formed from curved plates having a common curvature axis (75) that axis being angled relative to the median plane (35) ofthe rim (13) in a direction away from the rim's center when the two blades are butted against the rim's flange (17) in the set up position. The curvature of the blades (36,37) preferably is such that no point on the rim edge of each blade is spaced away from the rim's flange a distance greaterthan about two times the tire's bead core (90) diameter when the blades are butted against the rim's flange in set up relation. The bead breaker blades are swingably connected to a power unit (39) for moving the blades between storage and use positions. The bead breaker mechanism (10) and power unit (39) are structured so that, in use, the bead breaker blades are drawn from the set up position toward the rim's center plane in a generally linear and radially inward directed fashion without the blades being latched to the tire's rim and without contact of the blades with the rim. At maximum extension of the bead breaker blades by the power unit, the working faces of the blades are entirely located radially inward of the rim's flange (17).
