摘要: A motorcycle tire 1 comprises a tread portion 2 provided with a belt layer 7 and a radially outer band layer 8. The belt layer 7 comprises a first belt ply 11 on a carcass 6 and a second belt ply 12 thereon. The band layer is made of a spirally wound band cord and has a developed width smaller than that of the belt layer. In a meridian cross-section of the tire mounted on a standard wheel rim at an internal pressure of 10 kPa: the radius of curvature Rc of the ground contacting surface of the tire in its crown region is less than 95% of the cross-sectional width of the tire; and the radius of curvature Rc is smaller than a radius of curvature Rb of the ground contacting surface in shoulder regions.

A tire includes a belt layer (16) and a tread portion (4), the belt layer including at least one belt ply (38, 40) including a steel monofilament and a coating rubber, the belt layer having a ratio of E2/E1 of less than 0.90, wherein, when viewed in a radial cross-section of the tire, E1 denotes the number (ends/50 mm) of steel monofilaments aligned per 50 mm in the tire width direction in a region of the belt ply having the largest width in the tire axial direction which extends from the tire equator to a point Q that is located at 80% of a distance L in the tire axial direction from the tire equator to a point P that is located at an outer edge, with respect to the tire width direction, of the belt ply having the largest width in the tire axial direction; and E2 denotes the number (ends/50 mm) of steel monofilaments aligned per 50 mm in the tire width direction in a region of the belt ply having the largest width in the tire axial direction which extends from the point Q to the point P, the tread portion having a loss tangent, tanδt, of 0.25 or less as measured at a temperature of 30°C, an initial strain of 10%, a dynamic strain of ± 1%, and a frequency of 10 Hz in extension mode.

The tire includes a body ply that is displaced from the conventional equilibrium curve along the bead, sidewall, and shoulder portions of the tire in a manner that provides more uniform inflation growth from bead portion to bead portion. Such construction reduces load sensitivity, reduces or eliminates the tire break-in period, and/or decreases the propensity for cracking—particularly along a groove bottom of the tread in the shoulder.

The number of laminated plies of the band in the inboard first part is more than the number of laminated plies or a single ply of the band in the outboard second part.

The inclined belt layer (16) has cords extending as being inclined at 35° or more with respect to the tire circumferential direction. The inner liner (17) has a thickness of 1.5 mm or more at least in part of a side portion (19).

The circumferential belt includes a high rigidity region across the tire equator wherein the circumferential rigidity per unit width is higher at any location thereof than at any location in the remaining regions. The circumferential rigidity per unit width in the remaining regions is constant in the tire width direction or increases toward the high rigidity region.
