A watertight door system for a marine vessel comprises a door and a door frame having a threshold. A circumferential seal is around an opening of the door frame closed by the door. The seal is formed between seal components of the door and seal components of the door frame. The frame is adapted for connection to the bulkhead and comprises two sides, a top member and a floor trough. Means are provided to press the door against the frame when the door is in a closed position. The trough has a floor plate substantially flush with a top edge of the trough, which floor plate is adapted to form a floor panel of the floor of the vessel, with said trough received in an aperture of the floor. The trough has a lid to close the trough, at least when the door is in an open position, so that the floor is rendered substantially level through the door aperture. The seal may extend along the lid (in the case of a pivoting door) or in the trough, in the case of a sliding door.

The invention provides a multi-layer hatch cover support pad for supporting a hatch cover on a coaming structure of a ship. The multi-layer hatch cover support pad comprises an outer wear surface for sliding against a mating surface provided on the hatch cover or the coaming structure, a wear layer comprising first and second opposite sides, the first side defining the outer wear surface, the wear layer comprising a first plastic material, and, a base layer comprising third and fourth opposite sides, the third side being joined to the second side. The base layer comprises a second polymer material which is less abrasion resistant than the first plastic material. By making the base layer, which in practice makes up the main part of the multi-layer hatch cover support pad, out of the second polymer material, the cost of the multi-layer hatch cover support pad is decreased. The multi-layer hatch cover support pad may further comprise an internal wear indicator body for indicating wear of the wear layer and/or an identification unit for identifying the multi-layer hatch cover support pad. A method of producing the multi-layer hatch cover support pad, as well as a use of the multi-layer hatch cover support pad, is also provided.

A cover for use with an elongated opening associated with a transportable barge. The cover includes a number of inter-engageable cover sections, each exhibiting a plasticized construction and extending in both widthwise and lengthwise fashion relative to an upper lip edge defining an open perimeter of the barge. Each cover section exhibits pairs of opposing lifting eyes and associated locking pins, these being defined along outer extending side edge locations of each cover section and is adapted to securing the cover section upon the barge perimeter defining edge. Each cover further includes a four point locking and unlocking feature activated by a lift handle for selectively opening a cargo carrying interior associated with the barge. A plurality of structurally strengthening trusses are also incorporated into each individually assemble-able barge section in combination with an in molded ladder associated with each end wall section.
