摘要: An environmental control system includes a rotary machine, a first bypass duct (440), and a first check valve in the first bypass duct (440). The rotary machine includes a compressor section (232, 332) and a first turbine section. Each section of the rotary machine includes an inlet, an outlet, a duct extending between the inlet and the outlet, and an impeller in the duct. The rotary machine also includes a tie rod mechanically connecting the compressor impeller (86) and the first turbine impeller. The first bypass duct (440) is between the compressor section (232, 332) and the first turbine inlet. The check valve opens the first bypass duct (440) when an air pressure in the compressor inlet (80) is higher than an air pressure in the first turbine inlet.

摘要: An air cycle machine includes a turbine section (22), a compressor section (18), and an axial flux magnetic gear system electromechanically coupling the turbine section to the compressor section. The axial flux magnetic gear system includes a stator (130), two rotors (126, 128), a winding system (214), and a control module (216). The stator includes stator pole sections (140n, 140s) and is oriented about a stator axis. Each rotor includes magnets (132n, 132s, 136n, 136s) arranged radially about a rotational axis which is aligned with the stator axis. Each rotor interacts with the stator such that the rotor rotates at a rotational speed when the axial flux magnetic gear system is exposed to an electrical current. The winding system stabilizes the position of the rotors along their rotational axes. The control module is configured to supply the electrical current to at least one of the winding system, the stator, and the rotors to drive rotation of the rotors.
