摘要： The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for applying labels (102, 232, 607, 707) to containers (113) or multipacks (113), having the following steps: a pallet (105, 106), which can be pivoted in a controlled manner in particular about a pivot axis (419, 519) which is offset in relation to the axis of rotation, receives a label from a label-supply unit (101, 201) such that a glue-application surface (122) of the label is oriented away from the pallet; the label is transported, by way of the pallet, past a gluing unit (124, 125), where at least part of the glue-application surface of the label (107) is provided with cold glue; and the glued label (120) is then transferred directly to a container transported by a transporting apparatus (114) or to a multipack transported by the transporting apparatus.

摘要： An apparatus (10) is provided which has a frame member (12) with mounting means for receiving a first roll material (100) such as a laminate or roll of film coated with releasable adhesive. A first nip roller extends transversely across the base. An upper frame member (14) is pivotally secured to the base (12). The upper frame member has means for mounting or securing a roll (110) of material such as a laminating film or a paper or film which has an affinity for an adhesive greater than that of the release liner. A second nip roller extends transversely across the upper frame member and, with the upper frame member positioned in the operative position relative to the base, the nip rollers engage or are closely proximate to one another. An actuator which can be powered or can be manual such as a hand crank (74) is provided for driving or rotating at least one of the nip rollers. The upper frame member can be pivoted to an open position to facilitate loading of rolls of material in the base and upper frame member and to facilitate their insertion between the nip rollers. The upper and lower rollers (100,110) containing the webs of laminating or adhesive transfer material have tensioning caps which can be adjusted to prevent the rollers from overrunning as they pay-out material.

摘要： This invention relates to a labeling system (10) for continuously applying a layer of a radiation curable adhesive, e.g., a UV curable adhesive, to plastic, sheet fed, cut and stack, labels (44), irradiating the adhesive on the labels to render the adhesive sufficiently tacky to effectively adhere the labels to containers (20) in a commercial labeling machine and thereafter applying the labels to discrete containers through the sufficiently tacky adhesive layer. The plastic labels can be clear, opaque (including metallized) plastic films and can be retained in a dispensing magazine (42) prior to the application of the radiation curable adhesive to the labels.

摘要： A decal assembly (2000a) comprises a backing web (112), a printed label (128) positioned on the backing web, an adhesive web (106) applied over the label and the backing web, and a releasable liner web (102) carrying the adhesive web and applied over the label and the backing web. The label and the adhesive web over the label define the actual decal. In a preferred embodiment, the label is made from retroreflective sheeting. Labels printed with fixed information (126) are provided on a master roll. The endmost label is printed with variable information (126a), separated from the master roll, and then assembled into the decal assembly. For use, the releasable web is peeled back to reveal the adhesive web, the label, and the backing web. The decal (i.e. the label and the adhesive web covering the label) can then be separated from the surrounding adhesive web and the backing web and applied to a surface.
