    摘要： A carton (10) is provided having a base (20) covered by a lid (40). The base has a bottom panel (22), an upstanding sidewall extending around the periphery of the bottom panel, and an interior defined by the bottom panel and the upstanding sidewall. The upstanding sidewall has a surrounding free edge opposite the bottom panel of the base which is exposed after removal of the lid. The lid has a top panel (42) and a depending sidewall extending around the periphery of the top wall. The depending sidewall also has four sides (44,46,48,50), each of which are adhesively attached to an outwardly facing side (24,26,30,28) of respective adjacent one of the four sides of the upstanding sidewall. The lid is unattached to the surrounding free edge of the upstanding sidewall of the base.

In such heat sealing areas, small and accurately located exterior clay coated carton surface areas (71,72,73) are primed with a water based polymer emulsion such as ethylene vinyl acetate that is precisely applied to such areas by a printing press.
