A method is provided for filling a container system for a cosmetic product that has a hollow pressure containment vessel defining a chamber that encloses a sealed, collapsible, air-less pouch container containing product to be dispensed. A fermentation propulsion system is provided between the inner wall of the chamber and the air-less pouch container. The fermentation propulsion system comprises a quantity of yeast able to generate fermentation gas within the chamber, a quantity of sugar for the yeast to consume to fuel the fermentation process, and a yeast extract to boost fermentation activity. The fermentation gas serves as propellant for dispensing the product by applying pressure to the pouch container. A valve is secured in the opening of the vessel such that the chamber is hermetically sealed, and so that product can be selectively dispensed from the vessel.

We disclose apparatus and methods for delivering for patient infusion or other use two or more fluids either sequentially or simultaneously. The apparatus (100) has a fluid delivery compartment (101) containing a first infusion fluid (103), a flexible membrane (104), and an openable bag (150) containing a second infusion fluid (152). An attached gas reaction compartment (121) contains chemical reactants (123, 134) which, when combined, react to evolve gas (122). The gas (122) expands a gas expansion chamber (102) causing the membrane (104) to move into the fluid delivery compartment (101), displacing the first infusion fluid (103). The membrane (104) eventually contacts and compresses the openable bag (150). Pressure from the membrane (104) causes the bag (150) to open and discharge its contents out of the infusion device (100).

A flexible closed plastic pouch 27 disposable within a container holding a product for supplying dispensing pressure therein. A plurality of pocket members (34) disposed at spaced positions within said pouch with their openings facing the interior of the pouch. Each pocket member having an extension of a predetermined length attached at its end to the interior of first of two facing wall members of the pouch. Each pocket member enclosing a predetermined quantity of first component of a two-component gas generation system and being releasably closed by one of a plurality of closure members, each of said closure members having an extension of a predetermined length attached at its end to the interior of the second of the two facing walls of the pouch. The pouch contains a second component 37 of said two-component gas generation system and a starting means (38) encapsulated within delay means or device to initially generate a predetermined quantity of pressurizing gas after a delay of a predetermined period of time. The pressurizing gas inflates and expands the pouch within the container under pressure. Due to the dispensing of the product, the pouch expands further and causes sequential separation of the pocket member from their closure members and serial opening of each pocket member to add predetermined quantities of aliquot of the first component to the second component and further generate additional quantities of pressurizing gas. The internal pressure within the container is maintained substantially within a range of predetermined maximum and minimum pressure levels until dispensing the product from the container is completed.

A series of sequentially rupturable pockets (54) add further increments of internal pressure as dispensing preceeds. These pockets, and additional pockets containing chemicals for initiating package pressurization (50, 52), are formed in an outer film heat-sealed to a second outer film to define the package. The rupturable pockets are covered with a tape (32) to maintain the chemicals isolated until rupture is effected by progressive lift-off of the tape as the package expands.

@ A product dispensing means is disclosed comprised of a gas generating piston action pouch (25), formed in one embodiment from an elongated flexible plastic tubular member having one end portion (28) folded inwardly on the other portion (26) to integrally form an inner tube within an outer tube and outwardly slidable relative thereto. Both ends of the tubular member are sealed thus providing a sealed interstitial cavity (35, 36), between the two portions and a product receptacle within the folded portion. Successive gas generating means (37,38 39, 40) are located in said cavity and operatively connected between said portions (26, 28) to generate successive additional quantities of gas as said inner tube (28) moves outwardly from said outer tube (26) to dispense product from said receptacle under relatively constant pressure or any variation or increase or decrease of pressure if shelf life performance dictates specific pressure variances. The pouch (25) itself can be a self-contained product dispenser or can be utilized as an insert component in another container.
