    摘要: The present teachings relate to a tipping actuator (80) for a conveyor system, the conveyor system comprising a plurality of article carriers (91) moving on an endless conveyor (90) in a conveying direction, each article carrier having a carrier frame (25) for bearing an article (28), the carrier frame being pivotally mounted on the article carrier and operable to tip to enable discharge of the article borne on the carrier frame, the tipping actuator comprising: a trigger member (83) having a contact portion for contacting the article carriers; and an actuation mechanism operable to move the trigger member between a non-contact position, in which the contact portion is positioned out of the path of the article carriers so as to avoid contact therewith, and a contact position, in which the contact portion is positioned in the path of the article carriers to make contact therewith and effect tipping thereof away from the trigger member, wherein the trigger member comprises upstream and downstream trigger member parts (81, 82), each trigger member part being configured to effect tipping of the article carriers if positioned in their path, wherein the upstream trigger member part (81) is able to move into the contact position upon actuation of the actuation mechanism if the downstream trigger member part (82) is constrained from moving into the contact position.

    摘要: A crossbelt sorter system and method of sorting articles includes a track assembly and a plurality of carriers attached to each other to travel along the track assembly. Each of the carriers includes at least front and rear corner portions thereof and a trolley at each of the front and rear corner portions. Each trolley is configured to travel along the track assembly. A hitch assembly joins adjacent ones of the carriers. A propulsion system propels the carriers along the track assembly. Each trolley is mounted to the associated carrier to pivot in at least two different directions. In this manner, the track assembly may have one or more spiral portions thereof. Each trolley is adapted to pivot in the two different directions to support the associated carrier as it moves through the spiral portion.
