The conveying belt is wound along the first roller and the second roller, and the first roller forms a conveying terminal portion (31) of the conveying belt in the first conveying direction. The second roller forms a slope portion (32) of the conveying belt that slopes downward toward the conveying terminal portion. The support portion supports each of a plurality of sheets dropped from the conveying terminal portion in an upright position, at a position more downward in the vertical direction than the conveying terminal portion. The upper sheet, out of the sheets which are overlapping on the conveying belt in the vertical direction, is arranged to relatively deviate toward a downstream side in the first conveying direction than the lower sheet.

At least one of the folding units creates a fold in the folded article in a direction that is perpendicular to a fold created by another one of the folding units. The turn unit alters the travel direction of the folded article so that downstream folding units can be arranged in a manner that saves floor space. Also disclosed herein is a method of folding a sheet of paper that includes conveying the sheet of paper along perpendicular travel paths (P8, P9) after the sheet of paper has been folded.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung und ein Verfahren zum flexiblen Führen von transportierten Produkten (1) (d. h. von Signaturen) von einer Stelle zur anderen. Um die Aufschlagkräfte, denen ein transportiertes Produkt (1) ausgesetzt ist, zu verringern, ist eine flexible Führung (12) verformbar, wenn diese eine Signatur aufnimmt, um den Zeitabstand, in dem die Signatur bei ihrer Richtungsänderung mit der flexiblen Führung zusammenstößt, zu verlängern. Mit der Verlängerung des Zeitabstandes während des Zusammenstoßes der Signatur (1) mit der flexiblen Führung (12) werden die durchschnittlichen Aufschlagkräfte verringert und somit die Beschädigung der Signatur ausgeschlossen.
