摘要: The present disclosure provides an optical fiber and a preparation method thereof. The optical fiber includes a core layer, an inner cladding, a sinking layer, an outer cladding and a coating layer in sequence from inside to outside. The preparation method includes: preparing the core layer, the inner cladding and the sinking layer in sequence using a Vapor Axial Deposition (VAD) process, and preparing the outer cladding using an Outside Vapor Deposition (OVD) process to obtain an optical fiber preform precursor, collapsing and cooling to obtain an optical fiber preform, then performing melting and drawing, annealing in an atmosphere of an inert gas to obtain a bare fiber, and coating and curing to obtain the optical fiber. In the present disclosure, when manufacturing the optical fiber preform, by the adoption of a design of the oblique inner cladding combined with a wide recess and shallow fluorine doping, a refractive index difference between the core layer and the sinking layer is effectively reduced, so that the optical fiber has a higher strength, and at the same time, the bending resistance of the optical fiber is increased, so that the bending loss is greatly reduced; and the collapsed optical fiber preform adopts a specific cooling process, and is naturally cooled in the inert atmosphere after melting and drawing, so that the internal stress of the optical fiber is further reduced and the loss of the optical fiber is effectively reduced.
