摘要:
A method for fabricating a molding tool (104) for mold glass optical elements therewith is taught. The method comprises the steps of figuring the molding tool to have a predetermined mold surface (106); applying an attenuating coating to the predetermined mold surface; implanting metal ions through the attenuating coating and into the predetermined mold surface; and removing the attenuating coating leaving the predetermined mold surface with metal ions implanted therein (108). The method of fabrication allows for the molding tool made therewith to be used for molding optical elements from eco-glasses such as titania at high temperatures without generating adverse surface chemistry effects in the molded element.

A die for press-molding glass optical elements which can press-mold glass optical elements having high melting points and various shapes repeatedly, which includes a base material 11 having high strength on which a cutting layer 12 having heat resistance and free cutting machinability is formed. After cutting the cutting layer 12 into the desired shape with high accuracy, the die is coated with a surface protective film 13.

A die for press-molding glass optical elements which can press-mold glass optical elements having high melting points and various shapes repeatedly, which includes a base material (13) having high strength on which a cutting layer (12) having heat resistance and free cutting machinability is formed. After cutting the cutting layer (12) into the desired shape with high accuracy, the die is coated with a surface protective film (11). The cutting layer (12) is formed by an amorphous film or an alloy film containing one of P,B,Cu or Si. The surface protective layer (11) is formed by an alloy film comprising at least one of Pt,Pd,Ir,Rh, Os,Ru,Re,W,Ta. The cutting layer (12) can be formed by plating, evaporation, sputtering or ion plating the said film on the base material (13).

A die which can press-mold an accurate glass micro-optical element such as a grating repetitively can be manufactured easily by adhering a thin film, having an inverse shape of the master of a micro-optical element, on the top flat plane of a hard base body and by forming a protective layer thereon. The die having an inverse shape of the master can press-mold glass repetitively. By press-molding glass with the die, reliable glass micro-optical elements of the same shape as the master can be produced in a large amount and at a low cost.

An aspherical lens, which is to be used as an objective lens for an optical pickup of an optical disc apparatus, has at least one optical functional surface of the lens formed to be rotationally asymmetric so as to generate astigmatism of axial wavefront aberration for cancelling off-axis astigmatism. The lens is manufactured by press molding an optical material (60) such as glass or resin. At least one of the dies (61 or 62) is formed by etching a rotationally symmetric surface (1a or 3) of a base material (1) or an overcoat (2), unevenly. Thereby, the etched surface becomes rotationally asymmetrically aspherical in shape.
