The invention relates to an installation and a method for producing glass stoppers which are provided with a head portion and are used for sealing wine bottles and sparkling wine bottles. Said installation comprises a mold for producing glass stoppers, a feeder system for supplying the mold with molten glass, a multistation press, and a removing and handling system for the finished glass stoppers. When a molded lens is taken out from a molding die, it may be broken or damaged. Consequently, the lens may be markedly ineffectively produced. The present invention provides a molding die comprising an upper die for lens molding 21, a lower die for lens molding 24, a support die 27, and a mold 29. At least either the upper die 21 or lower die 24 has no flange. The support die 27 is provided below the die having no flanges. One or more through-holes 28 are formed in the support die 27 so that lifting pins can be inserted through the respective through holes. The upper and lower dies 21 and 24 can be slid relative to the mold 29.
