L'invention concerne un procédé d'obtention d'un substrat SUB muni sur au moins une partie de sa surface d'un revêtement à propriétés photocatalytiques à base de dioxyde de Titane. Le procédé inclut une étape de dépôt COAT par une technique de dépôt sol-gel d'une dispersion FSOL comprenant au moins un précurseur d'oxyde de Titane réagissant par voie sol-gel et un solvant organique, dit de dispersion. Cette étape est suivie d'une étape de cristallisation d'Anatase CRIS par traitement thermique sous pression. L'invention réside dans la réalisation du traitement thermique à une température inférieure ou égale à 140°C et sous une pression de vapeur saturante d'un mélange d'eau et d'un solvant organique dit solvant de pression. Applications : Luminaires d'extérieur et d'intérieur, tout objet avantageusement pourvu d'une surface autonettoyante.

The current invention provides improved methods and filter stacks for concentrating a slurry of titanium dioxide. The improved filter stack comprises a series of filter disks and diverter trays arranged in parallel. The present invention provides an improvement over prior art filter stacks by using a substantially complete weld to attach a diverter plate to the diverter trays. The current invention also provides an improved method for pre-conditioning a filter stack. The improved method is designed to pre-condition and gradually prepare the filter stack for production of the desired slurry of titanium dioxide. Further, the current invention provides an improved process for preparing and transporting a slurry of titanium dioxide. Finally, the current invention provides a method for enhancing the lifespan of a filter stack. The method for enhancing the lifespan of the filter stack continuously monitors the flow rate and specific gravity of fluids produced from the filter stack and signals the need for flushing of the filter stack.

Process and apparatus are provided for increasing the bulk density of an aerated powder. The powder is placed in a container. The container is then closed and the gas pressure within the container is increased to a level above atmospheric pressure ant at a rate sufficient to cause the powder to compact before a substantial portion of said pressurization gas diffuses into said powder. In one embodiment, the process and apparatus are utilized to increase the bulk density of an aerated, free-flowing titanium dioxide pigment, for improving packaging consistency and ease of dispersion in latex paint formulations, for example.
