The clip includes a connector (20) to the flysheet, a hook (25) to snap fit to the pole and a further connector (38) to the guy line. The connectors and hook are arranged in-line so that, in use, tension applied to the guy line is transmitted to the flysheet and the pole to balance loading while the pole is prevented from being released from the clip. A tent (40) and a method of pitching a tent using the tent clip are also described.

A collapsible shelter or tent (10) commonly known as an umbrella tent, that includes an integral frame (11) and cover (12), the frame including tent poles formed of interconnected tent pole section (15) whose ends (66, 67) are telescoped together and are urged in their telescoped coupling by an elastic cord (68) that is maintained, under tension, within each tent pole. Each tent pole (15) is pivotally connected at a top end to extend radially from a crown (14), with the opposite tent pole end maintained to a web strap (46) that extends from a base of which cover, with a number of slides (50) mounted to slide along each tent pole (15) that individually connect to and extend from loops secured at vertical intervals to extend outwardly from which cover. Both the crown (14) and an erecting ring (16) each receive a center pole (13) fitted to slide axially therethrough, and the erecting ring (16) pivotally mounts a rib end (18) thereto that pivotally couples at its opposite end to the tent pole at an intermediate point therealong. When the crown (14) and erecting ring (16) are slid together along the center pole (13), each rib (18) pivots outwardly urging the connected tent pole (15) into a bowed attitude, providing an umbrella type opening of the shelter, that can then be collapsed by pulling the erecting ring (16) away from which crown (14) slide, collapsing the frame. Whereafter the individual tent poles (15) can be disconnected by pulling them apart and folding them together into a bundle for rolling in the tent material.

In its preferred embodiment, the fast-erecting portable structure principally comprises two or more flexible framing rods and a flexible skin. The flexible framing rods essentially form inverted u-shapes and the flexible skin hangs from the flexible framing rods in substantially a dome shape. More specifically, the flexible skin can be supported from the flexible framing rods by sleeves sewn into the flexible skin. The sleeves allow the flexible skin to slide along the length of the flexible framing rods. The flexible skin is also fixed (or non-removably) connected to the ends of the flexible framing rods. The fast-erecting portable structure can be stored by coiling the flexible framing rods into a storage bag. The fast-erecting portable structure allows the structure to be immediately erected from the coiled position in the storage bag into the structure without any intermediate steps or the addition or removal of any parts.
