Dem Kolbenschieber (30) sind stirnseitig Hilfskolben (41) kleineren Durchmesser zugeordnet, die mit Vorsteuerdruck beaufschlagbar sind und je ein gedrosselter Entlüftungskanal (46) führt von jedem Stirnende (32) des Kolbenschiebers in den Rücklauf (28, 29). Zwischen einer abdichtenden Führung (38) für jeden Hilfskolben und dem benachbarten Stirnende des Kolbenschiebers wird eine Kammer (39) gebildet, in der durchleckender Beaufschlagungsdruck des pneumatischen Arbeitskolbens (9) dann einen Druckimpuls erzeugt, wenn sich der Kolbenschieber in der ungünstigen Zwischenstellung befindet. Aus diesem Druckimpuls resultiert eine Kraft, die den Kolbenschieber weiterverschiebt, so daß eine funktionsgerechte Umsteuerung des Kolbenschiebers erfolgt. Dabei wird die Ausbildung schädlicher und die Umsteuerung des Kolbenschiebers behindernder Luftpolster durch die gedrosselten Entlüftungskanäle (46) vermieden.

A piston (8) slidably inserted into a cylinder (7) is reciprocatably moved by fluid pressure such as pneumatic pressure and hydraulic oil and a spring (11) is used to move the piston upwardly. A spool-shaped pilot valve element (46) is provided to allow a supply-discharge valve disc (30) to take supply and discharge positions (X and Y), thus fluid pressure being supplied to and discharged from the cylinder. When the supply-discharge valve disc is actuated to take the supply position from the discharge position, the actuated force becomes stronger while the supply-discharge valve disc is in operation. When the supply-discharge valve disc is actuated to take the discharge position from the supply position, the back pressure resistance applied to the supply-discharge valve disc becomes weaker while the supply-discharge valve disc is in operation.

A double diaphragm pump comprises a centre body 10 and two end-caps 11, 12, the outer peripheries of two diaphragms 20, 21 being clamped between the centre body and the two end-caps respectively. The diaphragms are interconnected by a hollow push-rod 26 slidably and sealing- ly mounted in a bush 17 in the centre body. A shaft 30 extends centrally through the push-rod, diaphragm and end-cap and has a radial flange at one end and a nut engaged on a screw-thread at its other end whereby the end-caps, diaphragm and centre body are clamped axialy together. Air under pressure is supplied to the two axially outer chamber 23, 24 formed between the diaphragms and the end-caps under the control of a change-over spool valve 45, change-over operation of which is initiated by the approach of the push-rod 26 to either end of its reciprocating movement.
