摘要: A wind turbine (1) in which the yaw speed of a rotor (4) of the wind turbine (1) is increased, in a direction to reduce yaw error, from a first speed to a faster second speed when at least one of a yaw error threshold and a rate of change in yaw error threshold is exceeded. Yaw error is an amount an axis about which the rotor (4) is rotatable is offset from the wind direction to which the rotor (4) is exposed. As a result, the maximum loads that a wind turbine 1 should withstand may be reduced and lighter wind turbine components result.

摘要: A method is provided for operation of a wind turbine 10 having rotor blades 22 attached to a hub 20, wherein a controller 26 compensates for torsionally induced blade twist. The method includes operating 200 the wind turbine according to a rated power output curve and maximum design thrust value, and periodically or continuously detecting 202 for induced torsional twist in the rotor blades 22. Upon determination of torsional twist being induced in the rotor blades 22, the method includes adjusting 210 the maximum thrust value in the control program to compensate for the induced twist. The wind turbine controller 26 then controls 212 pitch of the rotor blades 22 as a function of the increased maximum thrust value so that power output of the wind turbine 10 is not unnecessarily limited or increased by the induced twist on the rotor blades.

摘要: A rotor of a wind turbine may cast an intermittent shadow onto an object in the vicinity of the turbine. A shadow-control system stops the wind turbine, based on a shadow-related shut-down condition. The condition is based on a result of a comparison between a direct-light intensity and an indirect-light intensity being beyond a direct-to-indirect light threshold. A set of light sensors measures the direct- and indirect-light intensities. A sensor measures the direct light intensity when irradiated by the sun, and the indirect-light intensity when not irradiated by the sun. The set of light sensors to provide the measured direct- and indirect-light intensities for the comparison consists of two sensors, an eastward-oriented sensor and a westward-oriented sensor.
