The temperature-sensitive fluid fan clutch device includes: an annular oil reservoir chamber provided in a case supported by a rotating shaft having a drive disk fixed thereto; a dam provided on an outer periphery of the drive disk; an oil circulating flow passage contiguously to the dam and provided between a torque transmission chamber and the oil reservoir chamber; and a valve member which opens and closes an oil circulation flow hole of the oil reservoir chamber due to a change in temperature of a temperature-sensitive body, wherein an oil effective contact area in a torque transmission gap formed between a drive side and a driven side is increased and decreased to control rotation torque transmission from the drive side to the driven side, and wherein two or more of the dams and two or more of the oil circulating flow passages are provided and an oil collection valve member which independently opens and closes at least one of the oil circulating flow passages is provided.

Das Kupplungsgehäuse (2) ist durch eine Zwischenwand (5) in eine Vorratskammer (13) (sekundärseitig) und in eine Arbeitskammer (11) unterteilt, wobei zwischen Vorratskammer und Arbeitskammer eine temperaturgesteuerte Zirkulation von viskosem medium stattfindet. In der Arbeitskammer (11) läuft eine Antriebsscheibe (3) um, die über die Scherkräfte des viskosen Mediums die Leistung auf das Kupplungsgehäuse (2) überträgt. Die Antriebsscheine (3) ist hohl ausgebildet und weist eine weitere (primärseitige) Vorratskammer (12) zur Aufnahme des viskosen Mediums auf, an deren Umfang eine Überströmöffnung (19) angeordnet ist, die von einem ffiehkraftgesteuerten Staukörper (14) durchsetzt wird, der bei erhöhter Antriebsdrehzahl das viskose Medium aus der Arbeitskammer (11) in die primärseitige Vorratskammer (12) fördert. Damit wird die Arbeitskammer (11) entleert und die Kupplung bei erhöhter Antriebsdrehzahl abgeregelt. Die Drehzahlregelung der Kupplung ist unabhängig von der gleichzeitig wirksamen Temperaturregelung. Diese Flüssigkeitsreibungskupplung wird bevorzugt für den Antrieb eines Lüfters für die Förderung von Kühlluft durch den Kühler einer Brennkraftmaschine für ein Kraftfahrzeug angewandt.

A fluid coupling device in which the input coupling member (11) includes a platelike member (29) defining a first inlet port (63), and a second inlet port (67) disposed radially outward of the first inlet port. The device includes a valve member (43) having a disengaged position ( FIG. 4 ) blocking flow through both inlet ports. As the valve member (43) moves from the disengaged position toward a first operating position ( FIG. 5 ) the first inlet port (63) is uncovered, while the second inlet port (67) remains covered. Continued movement of the valve member results in progressive uncovering of the second inlet port (67). Finally, there is a third inlet port (73), radially outward from the second inlet port (67), and further movement of the valve member (43) eventually uncovers the third inlet port. As the valve member moves, after uncovering the first inlet port, it passes through a dead band region (D1), then after uncovering the second inlet port, it passes through a dead band region (D2), in both cases helping to insure that the desired amount of fluid has been communicated into the operating chamber (35).
