Abstract:
The invention relates to a hybrid V-belt (4) having at least one traction support (2) and a plurality of blocks (6) arranged thereon and serving as support elements. The at least one traction support (2) is made of elastomer material and is reinforced with a cord ply (12). The surfaces of the traction support (2) are crossribbed or corrugated and are provided with a cover layer (14, 16). In order to enhance the fatigue strength of said hybrid V-belt, the die cord ply (12) is arranged directly in the 'lower' radially inner cover layer (14). This provides for direct contact between the cord ply (12) and the radially inner cover layer (14) in the area of the zeniths (6a, ...) of the 'lower' block slot flanks.
Abstract:
A power transmission belt (10) with a body (12) made from a first rubber composition in which at least one load carrying member (34) is embedded. The body (12) has a plurality of laterally spaced ribs (32,40,42) with exposed surfaces on the inside (50,52,54) of the body. The ribs (38,40,42) are made from a second rubber composition in which: a) a plasticizer of 8.3 to 10.7 (cal/cm 3 ) 1/2 in solubility parameter; and b) solid lubricant are respectively blended in an amount: i) 5 to 25 pts.wt.; and ii) 5 to 50 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. ethylene-α-olefin elastomer. The body further has short fibers (60) fixed at the exposed, pulley engaging rib surfaces.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a belt type continuously variable transmission comprising a primary sheave to which a driving force from an engine is transmitted, a secondary sheave, and a V-belt wound around the primary sheave and the secondary sheave, the V-belt having a contact part contacting with the primary sheave and the secondary sheave, and at least a portion of the contact part being made of resin, wherein a surface hardness of a contact part of the secondary sheave contacting with the V-belt is lower than a surface hardness of a contact part of the primary sheave contacting with the V-belt.
Abstract:
Free radical-cured elastomeric compositions comprising (a) an ethylene-alphaolefin elastomer and (b) 1,3-bis(Citraconimidomethyl)benzene as a curative coagent are disclosed. The compositions may further include reinforcing fillers. The invention further includes belts, including vehicle belts, such as transmission belts, and other articles that are subject to dynamic applications, comprising said elastomeric compositions.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an engine having an engine case (22) on one side of which a V-belt type of continuously variable transmission (CVT) is provided, said CVT (16) being placed in a transmission case (45) and constituted that a V-belt (57) is routed around a drive pulley (55) and a driven pulley (56), said drive pulley being attached to one end of a crankshaft (28), said driven pulley being attached to one end of a transmission shaft parallel to said crankshaft (28), wherein said crankshaft (28) is supported for free rotation with said engine case, one end of said crankshaft is projected from said engine case into said transmission case (45), said drive pulley is attached to said projected portion, and said transmission case (45) is made as a component separate from or independent of said engine case and supported with said engine case (22) so that a space (a) is present between said engine case and said transmission case (45), and wherein said transmission case (45) is provided with an inlet (45e) for introducing air inward and outlets (45f,45g) for discharging air outward, with said outlets open and directed toward the space (a) between said transmission case (45) and said engine case (22).
