Dazu wird ab einer bestimmten Leistung des Öldiffusionsbrenners (1) das Rücklaufsystem (5, 7,) geschlossen und der Zerstäuberdüse (2) erfindungsgemäß bevorzugt eine Brennstoff enthaltene Dispersion zugeführt; bevorzugt ab einer Leistung von 70 % der Maximalleistung, vorzugsweise ab 50% der Maximalleistung, insbesondere schon ab 30% der Maximalleistung. Die Erfindung eignet sich insbesondere für sog. Dralldruckölzerstäuber.

Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es, ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Betrieb eines Vormischbrenners zu schaffen, welche die Brennstoffzufuhr bei bestimmten Betriebsarten verbessern. Erfindungsgemäss wird dies dadurch erreicht, dass der Flüssigbrennstoff (2) und das Wasser (27) separat zur Flüssigbrennstoffdüse (17) transportiert, erst dort eine Flüssigbrennstoff-Wasser-Mischung (28) erzeugt und diese anschliessend in einem Vollstrahl (29), mit einem Einspritzwinkel α von kleiner als 10°, in den Innenraum (9) des Vormischbrenners (4) eingedüst wird. Dazu ist die zentral in den Innenraum (9) mündende Flüssigbrennstoffdüse (17) mit einer einfachen Einspritzöffnung (19) ausgebildet. Stromauf der Einspritzöffnung (19) ist eine Mischzone (22) angeordnet, in welche eine Flüssigbrennstoffleitung (20) und eine Wasserzuleitung (21) münden.
