Each crucible comprises a chamber intended to contain the material in the molten state and a discharge conduit for discharging the material in the molten state from the chamber. The assembly comprises at least first, second and third crucibles, the first crucible being at least partly directly above the second crucible, the discharge conduit of the first crucible opening into the second crucible and the second crucible being at least partly directly above the third crucible, the discharge conduit of the second crucible opening into the third crucible. The facility further comprises a heating system (40) which surrounds at least part of each crucible and a system (58) for recovering the material in the molten state supplied by the discharge conduit of one of the crucibles of said assembly.

The transport chamber is adapted to provide ready access to multiple treating chambers arrayed around the chamber. The transport mechanism includes a load translation mechanism for moving the load linearly and a load rotation mechanism for rotating the load within the transport chamber. A multi-station heat treating system having a centrally located quenching chamber that includes the load transport mechanism is also disclosed.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Anlage zur Herstellung von warmgewalztem Stahlband aus stranggegossenem Vormaterial (1', 1'') in aufeinanderfolgenden Arbeitsschritten, wobei das Vormaterial nach Erstarrung auf Warmwalztemperatur gebracht und zum Auswalzen zu Fertigband in ein Walzwerk (40) eingeführt wird, wobei nach Erreichen der Warmwalztemperatur das Vormaterial zu Bunden (11) gewickelt, in einem Drehherdofen (20) zwischengespeichert und bei Bedarf abgerufen, abgewickelt und zu Fertigband (41) ausgewalzt wird. Besonders vorteilhaft erfolgt die Zwischenspeicherung unmittelbar vor dem Einlauf in die Fertigstraße. Die Bunde werden dabei bevorzugt in waagerechter Lage bzw. bei waagerechter Wickelachse zwischengespeichert. Während der Zwischenspeicherung kann eine Nachheizung vorgenommen werden.

Rotary furnaces and processes for heat treating a workpiece generally include an external shell wall and a refractory lining abutting the shell wall to define a substantially cylindrically shaped interior chamber for treating one or more workpieces; an opening in the an external shell wall and a refractory lining for loading and unloading the workpieces; a rotatable hearth for receiving and rotating the workpieces within the substantially cylindrically shaped interior chamber; and a plurality of thermal isolation walls, wherein adjacent thermal isolation walls define a space effective to accommodate and thermally shield each one of the workpieces to be treated and have a height at least equal to a height of the workpiece. The presence of the thermal isolation walls substantially prevents heat transfer between the workpieces being treated.

A modular mobile furnace train apparatus and a process is disclosed. Mobile furnaces may be interconnected in series to form a modular mobile furnace train. Exhaust gas may then flow through mobile furnaces in a furnace train, allowing for more effective heat transfer to payload being heated as well as increasing energy recapture. Volatile gasses emitted by the payload may be combusted. This recapture reduces production of carbon dioxide and reduces the amount of energy required during the firing while the combustion of volatiles reduces exhaust pollutants. A fire line is an area where heat is applied, while a service line is an area where loading, unloading, inspection, and ongoing maintenance may take place. The modular mobile furnace train allows separation of the fire and maintenance which reduces worker exposure to dangerous environments while decreasing operational costs. Furthermore, the modular mobile furnace facility is less costly to build and operate.
