摘要:
Practice cartridge comprising a propellant sleeve (2), which is at least partially filled with a propellant powder (9), and a fin-stabilized full-calibre practice projectile (3), fastened to the front of the propellant sleeve (2), wherein the practice projectile (3) comprises a solid head part (4) and a tubular tail assembly (5) adjoining the head part (4) to the rear. To achieve the effect that, after firing the practice cartridge (1), no appreciable pressure fluctuations occur in the barrel of the corresponding weapon even in the case of relatively small amounts of propellant powder (9), the invention proposes that a container in the form of a bag and containing the propellant powder (9) extends axially from the bottom end region of the propellant sleeve (2) into the inner space (13) of the tubular tail assembly (5).

The aim of the invention is to ensure the firing stability of a full-caliber training projectile (1) in an inexpensive manner, said training projectile comprising a solid head part (2) and a tubular fin body (3) which adjoins the rear side of the head part (2). According to the invention, this is achieved by designing the fin body (3) such that the propellant gases produced upon firing the training projectile (1) also act on the exterior (5) of the lateral wall (6) of the tubular fin body (3). For this purpose, a guide is provided in the rear region of the fin body (3), said guide comprising multiple web-shaped guiding elements (7) which are uniformly distributed over the circumference of the fin body (3). Furthermore, a sealing system (10) is arranged in the region of the solid head part (2) of the training projectile (1) in order to prevent the propellant gases from passing by the exterior of the training projectile (1) within the barrel.

Launch vehicles (1400) with ring-shaped external elements (1480), and associated systems and methods are disclosed. An aerospace system in accordance with a particular embodiment includes a launch vehicle (1400) having a first end and a second end generally opposite the first end, with the launch vehicle being elongated along a vehicle axis (V) extending between the first and second ends, and having an external, outwardly facing surface. The system further includes an annular element (1480) carried by the launch vehicle, the annular element having an external, inwardly-facing surface radially spaced apart from, and extending at least partially circumferentially around, the vehicle axis. The annular element has a first edge surface facing a first direction along the vehicle axis, and a second edge surface facing a second direction along the vehicle axis, the second direction being opposite the first direction. A propulsion system is carried by the launch vehicle, and has at least one nozzle (1411) positioned toward the first end of the vehicle to launch the vehicle. A controller can be in communication with the launch vehicle and programmed to direct the vehicle in the first direction during vehicle ascent, and in the second direction during vehicle descent.

An ammunition system for a rapid fire gun. The ammunition system includes a bullet (200) having a tip that is stored in a retracted position and during flight is deployed to create an aerodynamic shape. Another aspect of the ammunition system is that the bullet has a cylindrical body (199) having a first length in storage and a second longer length after ignition of the propellant.

A projectile (110) is provided with a projectile tip (120) having enhanced aerodynamic properties to improve accuracy of the projectile. The tip has a body having a base or lower end (128), an upper end (133) and a curved, side wall (163) between its upper and lower ends that defines an ogive tip length. The tip is received with a projectile jacket (140) and also can have a series of aerodynamic features (155) formed in its body to modify air flow about the body of the projectile in flight.

A projectile (50) is propelled from a location in air, through anair/water interface, and toward an underwater object (24). The projectile (50) is of a full caliber that is directly received into and fired from a gun barrel (22). The portion of the projectile (50) that contacts the bore of the gun (22) is made of a material that will not unduly damage or be transferred to the bore of the gun upon firing. The projectile (50) includes a forward end stinger head (74) that forms a cavitation void (30) around the projectile (50) in water, minimizing water drag on the remainder of the projectile (50). The projectile (50) further includes a shoulder (90) that contacts the side of the cavitation void (30) in the event that the projectile (50) yaws into a wall of the cavitation void (30) as it passes through water, producing a restoring force that prevents the projectile (50) from tumbling.
