A signal conditioning circuit (10) time share multiplexes anti-aliasing filters (22) and an A/D converter (30). A plurality of first tier multiplexers (20) each time share multiplex one of a plurality of antialiasing filters (22) between a plurality of AC or baseband input signals from a plurality of sensors (12, 14, 16). A second tier multiplexer (26) selects its inputs from the filtered outputs of the first tier multiplexers. The output of the second tier multiplexer feeds a high speed A/D converter (30). Thus, the A/D converter is time share multiplexed by the second tier multiplexer. In this manner, a plurality of sensors can share a single A/D converter. After allowing a settling time for the multiplexers and antialiasing filters, a plurality of samples of the input signals are taken, such as for one period. The samples of each AC input signal are multiplied by a sine vector and a cosine vector. The product vectors are then each averaged and the square root of the sum of the squares of the two averages yields the magnitude of the input signal. Mechanical angle of the input signal can be determined based upon the sign of the sine and cosine product vector averages.

The invention relates to a sensor unit (2) for installing into a motor vehicle or trailer. The sensor unit has a sensor measuring structure (16) for sensing at least one physical variable, a sensor housing (12) which partly or completely surrounds the sensor measuring structure (16), and at least two connection lines (18). The sensor housing (12) of the sensor unit (2) is galvanically connected to a conductive part of the motor vehicle or trailer, and the sensor measuring structure (16) can be connected to an analyzing device (6) via the connection lines (18). In order to discharge a present electrostatic charge from the conductive part of the motor vehicle or trailer, the sensor unit (2) has a specified discharge path (4) between the electrically conductive sensor housing (12) and a connection line (18) or between the sensor housing (12) and the sensor measuring structure (16) such that the electrostatic charge is discharged via the analyzing device (6) connected to the sensor unit (2). The invention further relates to a sensing and analyzing device comprising a sensor unit (2) according to the invention and an analyzing device (6), to a motor vehicle or trailer comprising at least one sensor unit (2) according to the invention and/or at least one sensing and analyzing device according to the invention, and to a method for protecting the analyzing device (6).

A device and method for diagnosing a signal status relating to measurement, drive, and control by a measuring means, a drive means, and a controlling means. The device and method enables prevention of an increase of manufacturing cost due to an increase of the number of parts or due to complication of the circuit scale and enables precise transmission of the measurement result and soundness diagnosis of a circuit by using a simple constitution. A means for generating an alternating current including a rectangular pulse is connected to the primary side of a transformer, and a driven body to be measured, driven, or controlled is connected directly to the secondary side or indirectly through a rectifier circuit to the secondary side. The power sent through the transformer is consumed by the movement of the driven body. Consequently, the variation of the primary current is measured, and the movement of the driven body and a signal status are diagnosed on the basis of the measurement result.

A method for correcting offset drift in a sensor used in cyclic sensing is provided. The method includes: identifying a target value for a parameter of a signal between sensing cycles of the sensor; ascertaining a difference between a measured value for the signal and the target value; ascertaining a duration between the sensing cycles; using the difference and the duration, calculating a number of steps to attain the target value from the measured value; and adjusting the measured value by the number of steps to substantially agree with the target value. A pressure sensor is disclosed.
