    摘要: Disclosed herein is a system and method for identifying individual coaxial cables in a bundle of coaxial cables. The system includes a coaxial cable header that is configured for receiving one or more coaxial cables and establishing electrical conductive contact with only a conductive shield on a first end of each cable. The system also includes an electrical tester that is electrically connected to the coaxial cable header such that the electrical tester is configured to transmit signals through the conductive shields of each cable. The electrical tester includes a test probe that is configured to be selectively connected to a second end of each cable. The electrical tester is configured to identify whether the second end of a particular cable that is connected to the test probe corresponds with the first end of a pre-determined cable that is within the coaxial cable header.

    摘要: An arrangement that includes a transmitter unit and a receiver for locating a wire or a circuit interrupter associated with a selected branch circuit of a power distribution system. The transmitter is electrically interconnected with the selected branch circuit and produces a sequence of current pulses in a branch circuit that is to be traced to locate an associated circuit interrupter. Each current pulse is of a predetermined duration, a predetermined rise time, and a predefined fall time, which in one embodiment is equal to the current pulse rise time. The receiver is a handheld unit that is positioned in close proximity with the various circuit interrupters of the power distribution system and provides an indication that the desired wire or circuit interrupter has been located upon detecting current pulses that are with a predefined pulse duration, pulse separation and amplitude.

    摘要: A group wiring system includes a hub of a server system, a distribution frame including a plurality of wire pair receptacles, a plurality of remote receptacles, a testing device, and a plurality of testing circuits. Each testing circuit is coupled between conductive wires of contacts of an associated wire pair receptacle. Each testing circuit includes a light emitting device and a filtering device. The light emitting device emits light when the testing device applies a testing voltage to the contacts. The testing voltage is a low-frequency voltage signal having a frequency higher than 200 Hz that creates a circuit impedance higher than an impedance of the filtering device when passing through the hub, thereby decaying and filtering the voltage signal and allowing locating test while the server system is on-line. A method for locating wire pairs in a group wiring system is also disclosed.

    摘要: A system monitors cable interface connections in a network. An individual cable interface connection includes a connection between a cable and an associated device in the network. The monitoring system includes a plurality of individual interface controllers for monitoring an associated plurality of individual cable interface connections. The plurality of individual interface controllers include a first interface controller for automatically, acquiring device type identification data from a second interface controller monitoring a connection between a cable and an associated device in the network. The device type identification data is acquired via the cable and the first and second cable interface connections at the ends of the cable. The device type identification data supports identification of the device associated with the second cable interface connection. The first interface controller further automatically compiles a map including data indicating devices in the network and associated device type identifiers.

    摘要: Telecommunications (e.g. ISDN) wiring is tested by sequentially supplying to each wire at a first location a pulse sequence identifying that wire while grounding other wires, and detecting pulses on the wires at a second location while simultaneously providing a return path connection for the pulses to the other wires. The return path connection is provided by connecting between each wire and a local ground at the second location a resistor and a diode poled to be reverse biassed by pulses on the wire. The detected pulses are counted and the result used to drive a LED (light emitting diode) display comprising N green LEDs indicating correct wiring and N(N-1) red LEDs indicating incorrect connections, the LEDs being arranged in an N by N array with the green LEDs along one diagonal.
