摘要: A method for measuring a twist of an optical fiber is a method for measuring the twist of an optical fiber being drawn. The method includes irradiating the optical fiber with light beams from a plurality of irradiation positions spaced apart along a traveling direction of the optical fiber; detecting intensity distributions of the light beams, with which the optical fiber is irradiated and which are transmitted through the optical fiber, at a plurality of detection positions corresponding to the plurality of irradiation positions; and calculating the twist of the optical fiber based on the intensity distributions which are detected.

摘要: An optical connector according to the present disclosure suppresses fluctuations in the state of alignment of an optical fiber with respect to a housing. The optical connector comprises: an optical fiber; a ferrule assembly which has a holding portion that is provided with a ferrule and a flange; a housing which has an inner wall surface that defines an internal space in which the holding portion is housed, a reference surface that constitutes a portion of the inner wall surface, and a positioning part; and an elastic member which biases the flange toward the positioning part. The reference surface includes abutment portions which restrict the rotational orientation of the flange by being abutted against a portion of the outer peripheral surface of the flange and which are provided at two locations that are spaced from each other by a predetermined distance.

摘要: An object of the present invention is to ensure low crosstalk for all multi-core optical fibers in an optical fiber cable having a plurality of identical multi-core optical fibers of non-coupling type in different spiral shapes.
An optical fiber cable according to the present disclosure is an optical fiber cable formed by twisting a plurality of units each of which is formed by bundling a plurality of identical multi-core optical fibers of non-coupling type, which includes: that all the units have the same diameter; that the units are arranged in a plurality of layers from a center in a cross section; that the units are arranged in a spiral shape for each of the layers in a longitudinal direction; that all the units included in one of the layers have the same twist pitch of the spiral shape; and that the twist pitch is different for each layer, and is set based on a curvature Rpk of the multi-core optical fiber where crosstalk is the largest.-

摘要: A method for producing an optical fiber includes heating and melting an optical fiber preform and drawing the optical fiber preform. In this method for producing an optical fiber, the optical fiber is formed to include a core, a surrounding cladding surrounding a periphery of the core, and an outer cladding surrounding the surrounding cladding. In the drawn optical fiber, a maximum compressive stress of at least 100 MPa or more is applied to an optical waveguide region including at least the core.

摘要: An optical fiber includes a core portion made of silica-based glass; and a cladding portion made of silica-based glass having lower maximum refractive index than the core portion, the cladding portion surrounding an outer periphery of the core portion. The core portion is doped with an alkali metal element and chlorine. An average concentration of chlorine is higher than 800 atomic ppm on a cross-section perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the core portion. A region doped with the alkali metal element is larger than a region doped with chlorine at 800 atomic ppm or higher.

摘要: An optical fiber according to an embodiment of the present invention is provided with a center core, a side core, and a cladding. The center core includes a ring part where a relative index difference varies discontinuously, in its peripheral region, and when a is a radius from a core center to an outside of the ring part and c is a radius to a position where the relative index difference is maximum in the side core, an index profile is realized in a shape where c/a is in the range of 2.25 to 2.50, so as to enable setting of a dispersion value, a cable cutoff wavelength, a bending loss in the diameter of 20 mm, and an effective area in desired ranges.
