    摘要: Thermodevelopable material (1) comprises a support (1b) e.g. of paper or plastics, coated with a recording layer (1a) comprising an aromatic diazo compound, a coupler therefor, optionally a basic coupling assistant, at least the diazo compound preferably being micro-­encapsulated; the layer may be covered by a transparent protective film. An element made up of numerous minute matrixes, (2a-2e), e.g. liquid crystals, the transparency of which is altered by passage of an electric current, is interposed between a source of light (4) and said material (1), with optionally an optical lens system (3) to enlarge or reduce the final image (5) which is thus formed on the diazo layer (1a). The material is thus imagewise exposed; the resolution of the image (5) can be altered depending on its nature (e.g. pictorial, printed or bar code); the matrixes provide a sharp contrast (e.g. by a ratio of more than 10) between image and non-image parts. The material is then heated e.g. between rollers at 100°C, to develop a colored image. The method is useful in making bar code labels or identity cards.

    摘要: Microcapsules for copying material are prepared by dissolving a diazonium salt and shell-forming reactants in a non-aqueous solvent having a boiling point of from 40 to 95°C at atmospheric pressure, e.g. an ester, emulsify­ing the solution in a hydrophilic protective coloid solution, heating to cause shell-formation around the resultant oil droplets, and preferably under reduced pressure to remove the non-aqueous solvent. A coupling component and a basic substance are mixed with the microcapsules and together coated on a support, e.g. of paper or a synthetic resin film, optionally transparent, and dried to form heat-develop­able copying material in which the non-aqueous solvent is no longer detectable.
    Preferred basic substances are guanidines, and couplers can be active methylene compounds. A low-boiling co-solvent may be added to the organic solvent to obtain a transparent copying material. The sensitive layer may be composed of several sub-layers; by using several diazo compounds multi-colour material is obtained.
    In use, the material is image-wise exposed to light through an original whereby the exposed area is fixed, and overall exposed to develop the coloured image. Good, stable images are obtained.
