摘要: A photocpying machine includes a user-operating speed selector (114) to change copy mode between "standard" (low copy speed and high copy quality) and "draft" (high copy speed and low copy quality) modes of operation. The speed selector (114) selectively provides to a CPU (110) instructions regarding the speed at which the photocopying machine is operated. Depending upon the speed specified by the speed selector (114), appropriate control signals (130-140) will be send from the CPU (110) to the drivers (118-128) for the major components (12, 22, 32, 26, 56, 34) of the photocopying machine (10). The drivers for these types of components are generating the appropriate signals (142-152) to directly drive their associated components. In this way, the member of photocopies may be produced per unit time and easily and greatly increased without substantially changing the copying conditions and reducing copy quality.

摘要: The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus for carrying out image forming in any of a plurality of image forming modes by changing the relationship between the drive starting time of document scanning means (3) for scanning the surface of a document, and the time at which registration means (30, 31) feed paper to image forming means (10). According to the present invention, each of paper feeding means (15, 18, 21; 16, 19, 22; 17, 20, 23) is adapted to feed paper from a paper housing unit (12; 13; 14) at predetermined time intervals determined according to the sizes of paper. The time intervals at which the registration means (30, 31) feed paper to the image forming means (10), are equal to the predetermined time intervals mentioned above. Such predetermined time intervals remain unchanged for all image forming modes. Further, the stop period of time during which paper is once stopped by the registration means (30, 31), remains unchanged even if the image forming mode is changed. Accordingly, in a series of image forming operations, the time at which the registration means (30, 31) feed paper to the image forming means (10), remains unchanged in any image forming mode or even if the image forming mode is changed. When the image forming mode is changed, it is required to accordingly change the relationship between the time at which the registration means (30, 31) feeds paper and the drive starting time of the document scanning means (3). Such a change is solely made by changing the drive starting time of the document scanning means (3).

摘要: In an electrophotographic copier, adjustments are made to synchronize copy sheet gating optics start of scan, and document conveyor registration. The adjustment to the copy sheet gating is effected by making a copy with the optics assembly inactivated, determining the length of undeveloped area adjacent to the leading or trailing edge of the copy, and adjusting the start of scan as a function of the determined length. The start of scan of the optics assembly is effected by positioning a test master document with dark portions adjacent to its leading and trailing edges, making a copy of the test master document, determining the length of undeveloped area adjacent to the leading or trailing edge of the copy, and adjusting the start of scan as a function of the determined length. The adjustment of the document conveyor registration is effected by feeding the test master document to the document glass, making a copy of the test master document, determining the length of undeveloped area adjacent to the leading or trailing edge of the copy, and adjusting the document conveyor as a function of the determined length. The determining steps may be done by visual inspection or by an optical sensor. The adjusting may be done manually, either electronically or mechancially. In the alternative, the adjusting may be done automatically in response to the optical sensor.

摘要: The present invention relates to a copying machine so composed that copying paper can be continuously fed from the stock section regardless of the movemental timing of the resist section, which has been so improved that the paper feeding speed or the paper feeding interval of the copying paper can be controlled in response to the relative scanning time of the optical system for a document.
