摘要: Handwriting verification methods and related computer systems, and handwriting-based user authentication methods and related computer systems are disclosed. A handwriting verification method comprises obtaining a handwriting test sample containing a plurality of available parameters, extracting geometric parameters, deriving geometric features comprising an x-position value and a y-position value for each of a plurality of feature points in the test sample, performing feature matching between geometric features of the test sample and a reference sample, determining a handwriting verification result based at least in part on the feature matching, and outputting the handwriting verification result. The geometric features may further comprise values derived from the geometric parameters, such as direction and curvature values. The handwriting verification result can be further based on a count of unlinked feature points. Handwriting-based user authentication methods can employ such handwriting verification methods, or other handwriting verification methods.

摘要: A system and method that is able to recognize a user's natural superimposed handwriting without any explicit separation between characters. The system and method is able to process single-stroke and multi-stroke characters. It can also process cursive handwriting. Further, the method and system can determine the boundaries of input words either by the use of a specific user input gesture or by detecting the word boundaries based on language characteristics and properties. The system and method analyzes the handwriting input through the processes of segmentation, character recognition, and language modeling. These three processes occur concurrently through the use of dynamic programming.

摘要: A method and apparatus (10) for cursive script recognition employs an intermediate cursive words description language constructed of elements in the form of metastrokes wherein each of the metastrokes is a member of a metric space, the metric space being expressible as a matrix of likelihood of matching between input metastrokes and predefined metastrokes forming a vocabulary. Typically, a minimum of twenty metastrokes is used to form the vocabulary or set of allowable stroke elemental shapes (24), although as many as seventy may be used, with a correlation factor or measurement of similarity being defined between strings of metastrokes (20). Techniques for interpreting the metastrokes as words include substituting, adding, and deleting metastrokes in an input sequence, measuring similarity and comparing entries in a dictionary of words constructed of metastroke sequences and varients of metastroke sequences. Weighting of similarity may include penalties for lack of similarity.

摘要: A method for recognition of a handwritten pattern comprises selecting core points among a sequence of detected points of the handwritten pattern. The core points are selected for use in segmenting and recognizing the handwritten pattern. The method further comprises determining features of each core point, and comparing the handwritten pattern to templates. The comparing comprises stepwise analyzing the core points in sequence by matching the features of sequences of core points that either start with the first core point or the last core point of a previous sequence to said templates and calculating a distance value, and assigning a cumulative distance value to the last core point in the matched sequence of core points, whereby a smallest cumulative distance value is assigned to the last core point and corresponds to a sequence of matched templates which represent a possible recognition result of the handwritten pattern.
