    摘要: In an information reproducing method, directory data for managing file data is recorded on an information recording medium to manage recording reproduction of the file data. There are provided a defect bit map in which defect information indicating if a defect exists or not corresponding to each physical address of the recording medium is recorded on the recording medium, and a defect index table on which the number of defects in a block is recorded every predetermined block of the defect bit map. When a designated logical address is converted into a physical address, searching is sequentially performed on a block on the defect index table where the designated logical address exists and a physical address in the searched block on the defect bit map.

    摘要: A CMD control circuit (30) in an optical card reproducing apparatus of the present invention comprises a data interval detector (36) which detects a data pit interval from a binary valued signal from a binary value converter (34) and from a row address and a column address generated by a row address generator (31) and a column address generator (32), respectively, during scanning of a CMD sensor (8) with a row address generator and a column address generator, a track guide column address detector (37) for detecting a column address of a track guide from the binary valued signal by scanning the CMD sensor (8) and a decoder (38) for decoding a recorded data from the data pit intervals detected by the data interval detector (36). In this optical card reproducing apparatus, the decoding is carried out directly from the recorded data pit intervals without moving the optical card during the reproducing operation. Thus, accurate decoding or reproducing of the data can be achieved.

    摘要: A method of recording of information on an information recording medium including a first area having a plurality of sectors for recording data and a second area having a plurality of blocks for recording a directory used for managing the data is disclosed. Data is recorded on a first sector group consisting of at least one sector in the first area of the medium. When there is a defect in at least a part of the first sector group, the data to be recorded is recorded on a second sector group consisting of at least one sector in the first area. A directory corresponding to the data is recorded in the first block of the second area of the medium. When there is a defect in the first sector group, information regarding the defect is recorded into the first block of the second area. When only a part of the information regarding the defect can be recorded in the first block, the remaining information regarding the defect is recorded into the second block of the second area.
