摘要： Radioactive waste material packaged in drums is stored by stacking of the drums in hollow columns (18) laid out in an array only partially bounded by shielding walls (10, 12, 14), the remainder of the shielding for completing the shielded enclosure being constituted by the filling of certain of the columns (18S) with fluent radiation-attenuating material. Such material is evacuable when desired to enable this boundary to be reconstituted in others of the columns in order that the shielded enclosure can be enlarged.
