The invention relates to a method and a device for treating liquids as treatment fluids such as sea and/or brine water, which comprise a base liquid containing dissolved or undissolved impurities, essentially liquids and/or gaseous or salt forms. The liquid which is to be treated is introduced into at least one pre-heating/separating device (5, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16; 10, 11, 12, 17, 19; 5', 8', 9', 12', 13', 14', 5', 10', 11', 15', 16', 17) for pre-heating and pre-cleaning in such a manner that the liquid to be treated is pre-heated by a pre-heating heat exchanger (8, 11; 8', 10') to a temperature below boiling point of the base liquid. The impurities having a boiling point which is lower than the base liquid are evaporated, thermally expelled and disposed in a separator (9, 14, 15, 16; 12, 17, 18, 19; 9', 12', 13', 14', 11', 15', 16', 17'). Subsequently, a carrier gas is fed to the treatment liquid and the mixture obtained therefrom is evaporated to form a damp carrier gas-vapour mixture whereby the base liquid is evaporated and the liquid impurities whose boiling point is higher than the base liquid remain as a residue and /or all the salts contained in the base liquid remain in the form of brine. Subsequently, the damp carrier gas-vapour mixture is fed into a concentrate separator (30; 28') wherein the liquid residue and the brine are separated in the form of a concentrate. The carrier gas-vapour residue is fed into the condensate separator (38; 36'), wherein the condensate and the carrier gas are separated.

The invention concerns a method for distilling a fluid, useful for instance for eliminating salt from brackish and/or sea water, comprising percolating films on plates with multiple effects and comprising several evaporation zones and condensation zones. The invention is characterised in that the evaporation zones (EVAP) and the condensation zones (COND) are vertically arranged; the liquid to be distilled emerges in the evaporation zone (EVAP) top part; the vapours produced in the evaporation zone (EVAP) are horizontally transferred into the condensation zone (COND) through communicating means; the condensed liquid percolates vertically along the condensation zone walls and is evacuated in said zone lower part. The invention also concerns a distilling plant for implementing said method consisting of cascades made up of elementary cells(1) alternately assembled in thermal series. The invention further concerns the elementary cell (1) structure.

The invention relates to a method for trioxan isolation from an aqueous mixture basically consisting of trioxan, water and formaldehyde. The method is characterized in that trioxan is withdrawn from the mixture by pervaporation and in that the trioxan enriched mixture (permeate) is separated by trioxan rectification and an azeotropic mixture of trioxan, water and formaldehyde.

A method and an apparatus for desalinizing raw water are disclosed. The method can include wicking the raw water into a porous material by capillary action and heating the raw water in the porous material with a heating element to form water vapor. The water vapor then can be condensed to form purified water. The apparatus can include a chamber for holding raw water, a heating element, a sheet of porous material and a chamber for collecting water vapor evaporated from the raw water in the porous material.

A water-soluble organic material condensation apparatus equipped with a distillation column for distilling an aqueous solution of a water-soluble organic material, wherein a vapor generated at the top of the distillation column or a condensed liquid from the vapor is introduced to a device other than the distillation column which has the function to separate water from the water-soluble organic material to thereby condense the water-soluble organic material through separating water and then the condensed water-soluble organic material is recycled to the distillation column. The device other than the distillation column is desirably a separative film such as a zeolite film. The apparatus is improved in the operation of the upper portion of the condensation section of the distillation column and allows energy savings during distillation.
