The reversing valve for dual-circuit brake systems in motor vehicles is designed as a slide valve and consists of a housing (1) in the cylindrical chamber (2) of which a piston (6) is movably fitted and pressed into a boundary position by a spring (8). On the outer surface of the piston there is at least one recess forming, together with the inner wall of the chamber (2), an annular space (13) which is sealed on both sides against the chamber (2) by seals (10, 11). At least two inlets (3, 4, 47) and one outlet (5) open into the chamber in such a way that, depending on the position of the piston (6), the outlet (5) is in fluid connection with a given inlet.

Apparatus is provided to supply a liquid, for example water, at a constant temperature, for example to a shower (32) by mixing two supplies (10; 20) of liquid, one hot and the other cold. Control of the output temperature is effected by measuring and controlling the flow rate in one or both of the supplies (10; 20) by way of flow meters (11; 21) having a rapid response time and motor driven valves (13, 14; 23, 24). In the case where the flow rates in both supplies (10; 20) are measured and controlled it is possible further to control the output flow rate in addition to and independently from the output temperature, also by controlling the flow rates in the supplies (10; 20). Further accuracy may be achieved by sensing the input supply temperatures in addition to the flow rates.

A mixing valve apparatus provides a pressure balancing valve which can have fins on their valve members and is forced to rotate by hot- and cold-water flows. There are provided two valve means (36, 38) for controlling flows of hot and cold water, a temperature sensor (57) or possibly a flow rate sensor (58). The valve means (36, 38) are shifted by respective electric driving means (45, 51) which are driven by a controller (64) based on detected data of the temperature sensor and the flow rate sensor.
