The present invention relates to a tool for rotary chip removal machining. The tool comprises a cutting head (10), a retention means (11) and a shank (12). The cutting head (10) is provided with at least one cutting edge (27) which is integral with the cutting head. The cutting head and the retention means comprise overlapping asymmetrical means (15, 19) for mounting of the cutting head to the shank. The cutting head comprises two cutting edges (27), each major cutting edge (27) comprising a substantially straight edge (27A) and a convexly curved preferably part-circular edge (27B). The convex edge (27B) is provided radially outside the substantially straight edge (27A). The invention further relates to a cutting head for the tool.

A self-boring, thread-milling screw has a boring section (1) with a substantially constant diameter followed by a transition area (15), a flow forming section (2) and a threaded shaft (3). The grooves (7) for chips that start at the boring section (1) extend over at least a substantial part of the flow forming section (2) so that chips may be evacuated even after boring is completed. The transition area (15) between boring section (1) and flow forming section (2) allows a collar-like flow formed section (19) to be smoothly formed at the edge of the bore hole. The collar-like flow formed section (19) is not affected by boring chips, thanks to the grooves (7) for chips that extend into the flow forming section (2). The threaded shaft of the screw can then cut a thread into the flow formed section (19). The cross-section of the flow forming section (2) is substantially polygonal and the rounded corners (12, 13) of the polygonal cross-section project as radial edges over the flow forming section (2) that tapers toward the boring tip.

The invention is concerned with a method of forging a part of a predetermined shape from a workpiece comprising the steps of: radially closing opposed forging dies such that the forging dies move radially inward in a predetermined direction to contact the workpiece wherein the opposed forging dies define a cavity therebetween of the predetermined shape of the resulting part; applying axial and radial force to the workpiece with the radially closing forging dies, said applying step including the step of generating compressive and shear stresses within the workpiece such that the workpiece deforms outwardly to the predetermined shape defined by the opposed forging dies; and structurally reinforcing the opposed forging dies during the application of compressive and shear forces with a die housing which receives and circumferentially encompasses the opposed forging dies during the forging process.

The invention relates to a drill body intended for chip removing machining having a front head (4) that includes two cutting edges, each one of which comprises two part edges (9, 10), a first one of which is included in a central tip part (8) having a front chisel edge (29), and the second one extends between a peripheral end point (11) and a radially inner end point (12), where the same transforms into the first part edge. In a primary clearance surface (13) two part surfaces (13a, 13b) are included, which meet each other in a chute bottom (17). According to the invention, the drill body includes not only a first chute bottom (17) between the two part surfaces (13a, 13b) of the primary clearance surface (13), but also a second chute bottom (30), which extends in the extension of the first one and separates two second part surfaces (15a, 15b) included in a secondary clearance surface (15).

The Shaft is provided with a profile to fit an industry standard drilling machine. The tip is provided with a plurality of edges each with sufficient clearance angle to provide a cutting edge to cut the workpiece. These edges combined with an adequate grade of material allow effective cutting of hard composition tiles.
