Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung zur Fremdkörperabscheidung aus einem Tabakstrom (15), wobei eine erste Fördervorrichtung (10) für den Tabakstrom (15) vorgesehen ist, wobei in Förderrichtung (11) stromabwärts der ersten Fördervorrichtung (10) eine Fremdkörpererkennungsvorrichtung (12) vorgesehen ist, an die sich weiter stromabwärts eine Fremdkörperausstoßvorrichtung (13) anschließt, wobei stromabwärts der Fremdkörperausstoßvorrichtung (13) eine zweite Fördervorrichtung (14) für einen von Fremdkörpern (16) befreiten Tabakstrom (17) vorgesehen ist. Die erfindungsgemäße Vorrichtung zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass eine Trennstelle (18, 18') in der Vorrichtung zur Fremdkörperabscheidung zwischen der ersten Fördervorrichtung (10) und der zweiten Fördervorrichtung (14) vorgesehen ist, wobei die Trennstelle (18, 18') die Vorrichtung zur Fremdkörperabscheidung in einen stromaufwärtigen Abschnitt (19) und einen stromabwärtigen Abschnitt (20) trennt, wobei der stromaufwärtige Abschnitt (19) mit dem stromabwärtigen Abschnitt (20) lösbar verbindbar ist und die beiden Abschnitte (19, 20) relativ zueinander bewegbar sind.

During the production process, tobacco has to undergo a preliminary treatment such as sifting, among other things, in order to eliminate foreign matters, ribs, etc. from the tobacco. According to the invention, the tobacco is delivered to a sifter (10) with the aid of air, and undesired components are eliminated therefrom in said sifter (10) in a counterflow treatment also by using air or sifting air. Separate currents are created for conveying the tobacco prior to the sifting process as well as for sifting the tobacco and conveying purposes following the sifting process, i.e. a delivery pipe (12) to the sifter (10) and a waste air pipe (15) from the sifter exclusively for conveying air, and a closed circuit comprising a discharge pipe (19) for sifted tobacco and a sifting air pipe (17) for the tobacco-free sifting air, thereby allowing different flow characteristics to be used for conveying and sifting.

Die Fremdkörper (9) werden dadurch erfaßt, daß das Gut (1) mit den in ihm enthaltenen Fremdkörpern (9) auf eine Fläche (7) gefördert oder geleitet wird, die mit einem Sensor (8) in Verbindung steht, der beim Auftreten eines für Fremdkörper (9) charakteristischen Schwingungswertes ein Signal abgibt. Durch die Anzeige, daß ein Fremdkörper sich im Gut befindet, oder eine automatische Ausschleusung von Fremdkörpern können Störungen vermieden werden.

A separation device for separating threshed leaf tobacco includes a housing defining a separation chamber (16). A fan circulation system (26) having an improved varibale flow plural flow path arrangement (68,72) establishes a generally upward air flow through the separation chamber. A tobacco supply inlet (28) is disposed at an inlet side (18) of the separation chamber for receiving a supply of threshed leaf tobacco downwardly therethrough and a threshed leaf tobacco projecting winnower (30) is disposed below the tobacco supply inlet for projecting the supply so that the lighter particles are generally carried upwardly by the air flow within the separation chamber and the heavier particles move generally downwardly through the air flow. An improved system (32) is provided for receiving and discharging the lighter particles carried upwardly by the air flow within the separation chamber (16). A heavy particle outlet (36) on an outlet side (20) of the separation chamber is provided for receiving heavy particles downwardly therethrough. The inlet (28) and outlet (30) are positioned and constructed such that the separation device can be mounted in side by side relation to a similar separation device having a similar inlet such that the heavier particles moving downwardly through the outlet (36) of the separation device pass downwardly through the simlar inlet (28) of the similar separation device.

A mechanism for removal of contaminants from a stream of material has a plurality of rotatable hollow cylindrical doffer elements (11) each having flights (12) supplied with cleaning means (13) thereon mounted substantially parallel to one another within a frame (10). The doffer elements are each mounted on blocks (22, 24; 26, 28) on the frame. The blocks are provided with a number of mounting holes (23) whereby the vertical elevation of the doffer elements (11) with respect to the frame may be varied. The blocks are mounted to the frame by T-shaped bolts (37) the heads of which are slidable in a T-shaped groove (27) on the frame whereby the position of each doffer element on the frame may be adjusted.
