摘要: Manganese oxide particles and lithium manganese oxide particles have been produced with an average diameter less than about 500 nm. The particles have a high degree of uniformity including a very narrow distribution of particles sizes. Methods are described for producing metal oxides by performing a reaction with an aerosol including a metal precursor. In particular, the particles can be formed by laser pyrolysis. The lithium manganese oxide particles can be formed by the heat treatment of nanoparticles of manganese oxide. Alternatively, lithium manganese oxide particles can be formed directly by laser pyrolysis. The lithium manganese oxide particles are useful as active materials in the positive electrodes of lithium based batteries. Improved batteries result from the use of the uniform nanoscale lithium manganese oxide particles.

The head portion has an inlet end defining an air inlet and an outlet end defining an air outlet. 摘要: Wärmebehandlungsgerät zum Erwärmen der menschlichen Kopfhaare mit wenigstens drei, vorzugsweise vier an einem Tragearm (7) befestigten, als Flächenstrahler mit im wesentlichen als Kreissegment gekrümmtem linienförmigem Heizkörper (23) ausgebildeten Infrarotstrahlern, wobei zwei Infrarotstrahler (6) seitlich und einer, vorzugsweise zwei mittlere Infrarotstrahler (9) oberhalb des zu behandelnden Kopfes (14) angeordnet sind. Der Tragearm (7) is an einem Bodenstativ (2, 3) bzw. an einem Wandarm (42) beweglich gelagert. Die in Richtung eines Krümmungsradius (R) jeweils verlaufenden Mittelachsen (26) zweier seitlich angeordneter Infrarotstrahler (6) schließen miteinander einen Winkel (ß) von wenigstens 80°, vorzugsweisen von 108° ein. Das Verhältnis aus Länge (L) des gekrümmten linienförmigen Heizkörpers (23) aus vorzugsweise Quarzglasrohr zu dessen Krümmungsradius (R) beträgt wenigstens 0,2, vorzugsweise 0.6. Bei einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform schließen die in Richtung eines Krümmungsradius (R) verlaufenden Mittelachsen (28) beider mittlerer Infrarotstrahler miteinander ein Winkel (y) von wenigstens 45°, vorzugsweise von etwa 68,5', ein, wobei der in Gebrauchslage tiefer angeordnete mittlere Infrarotstrahler (9) zur Behartdlung von schulterlangem Haar um vorzugsweise 30° nach unten gekippt werden kann. Durch die Anordnung und Ausbildung der Infrarotstrahler sowie durch die Verwendung einer optischen Abstandsjustiervorrichtung für den zu behandelnden Kopf soll eine gleichmäßige Temperaturverteilung auf dem Haar sowie eine Bedienungserleichterung erreicht werden (Fig. 5).
