    摘要: An apparatus (10) and method for providing a surface finish to articles (12) is disclosed. Various constructions and details are developed which promote the adaptability of the device and method to use in automated facilities employing flow lines to process articles. In one particular embodiment, articles (12) are disposed in predetermined volumes of finishing media (30) which are separated from each other, the finishing media being vibrated as the media is urged along a surface (58) from one location to another by a helicoid-type blade (66). In one embodiment, means for vibrating the media vibrates the surface (58) to vibrate the media. Any suitable device may be used to provide vibrational energy to the surface.

    摘要: A vibratory material handling apparatus is provid­ed for mixing of materials, cleaning, blending and/or shake-out of castings or the like. The apparatus comprises a container (112) having a curved or arcuate material supporting surface disposed about a generally horizontal longitudinal axis (139) wherein the material supporting surface has a plurality of generally circumferential, parallel troughs (200) disposed about and extending along the longitudinal axis. The container, which is carried by a frame, is resiliently mounted to a mounting surface. The apparatus further comprises a vibration generator (114) mounted on the container for producing vibratory forces directed along a linear path (180) displaced not only from the longitudinal axis but also from the center of gravity of the container. With this arrange­ment, the troughs are arranged to direct materials upwardly and forwardly to establish a path of tumbling movement in a direction from a material input end (132) toward a material discharge end (138) of the container.

The guard members (10) and (11) are respectively provided with window portions (10w) and (11w) communicating with the housing space (V). The window portion (10w), the window portion (11w) and the annular imaginary curved surface (S) extending to connect the peripheral edges of the guard members (10) and (11) are configured to allow the polishing media to pass between the inside and outside of the housing space (V).
