The invention consists of a safety device that can easily be incorporated into any type of waterproof clothes and work clothes and is designed for protecting people who accidentally fall into the sea, insulation against low water temperatures, as well as a heat source that considerably prolongs survival time in low-temperature water being provided. The invention comprises: a main ring-shaped bag (1), the outermost part of which is provided with a plurality of long, narrow secondary bags (5); and a check valve (3) arranged on the surface of the main bag which contains sodium which, upon contact with water, causes a chemical reaction that seals possible points at which water could enter the clothing and further provides a heat source for the body.

The heating of submersible hulls, diving suits and other underwater equipment usually involves use of electrical batteries. However, in cold water operations these electrical batteries prove quite inadequate for the task. The invention provides for a self-contained heating system involving the bringing together in a submerged reaction zone (15) of substances capable of reacting together exothermically. Preferably one of the substances is a metal e.g. aluminium in ingot form and the other substance is an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide and is fed to the ingots (14) of aluminium. The invention embraces also an apparatus for carrying out the reaction and transferring the heat generated.

Exhaled breath is fed to the inside of the sportsman's gloves and/or boots down a tube which runs along the inside of the wetsuit to take full advantage of the insulating properties of that wetsuit. Rubber moulding units at the rear neck wrists and/or ankles facilitate the tubing's entry and exit from the wetsuit without disturbing the watertight properties of that wetsuit. The rubber mouldings can either be built into the wetsuit itself or separate inserts to go between the sportsman's skin and the wetsuit seals at the neck wrists and ankles.

An embodiment of a submersible warming garment comprises a closed fluid loop including a warming conduit disposed in thermal communication with a chamber containing a catalyst and a cooling conduit disposed within a wearable garment. A pump moves the fluid through the warming conduit, where heat is gained, to the cooling conduit, where heat is surrendered to a human wearing the garment, and back to the pump. An actuated valve on a container of fuel and an actuated valve on a container of oxygen are controlled using a controller to provide a combustible mixture into the chamber where the mixture reacts in the presence of a catalytic member to generate heat and combustion by-products. The combustion by-products, including carbon dioxide and water, are one of adsorbed and absorbed by a carbon dioxide scrubber and a reusable water storage medium. A fan moves the by-products into the scrubber and water storage medium.

Die Erfindung betrifft einen Kreislauf-Tauchgerät (Rebreather) mit eigenem Antriebssystem (34) für eine rationelle Fortbewegung eines Tauchers unter Wasser mit Möglichkeiten in verschiedenen Tiefenbereichen unterschiedlichen Atemgasgemische zu verwenden um den Tauchgang zu optimieren und die folgende Dekompressionszeit zu verkürzen. Ein derartiges Tauchgerät mit eigenem Antriebssystem (33,34) und Gasversorgung (9,10,55,56) mit unterschiedlichen Atemgasgemischen ist von großempraktischem Interesse. Es ermöglicht den Taucher nicht nur tief unter Wasser vorzudringen mit wenig Verlust von Kraft und Atemgas, sondern nach Tauchtiefe und Grundzeit die entsprechende Dekompressionszeit wesentlich zu verkürzen durch Gaswechsel von Inertgasen, wie Stickstoff, Argon, Helium, in unterschiedlicher Zusammensetzung mit Sauerstoff. Der Taucher hat auch die Möglichkeit sich unter Wasser schnell zu bewegen und unterschiedlichen Unterwasser-Beobachtungen oder Arbeiten durchzuführen. Solche Geräte sind umso notwendiger, wenn ein größerer Aktionsradius, umfangreiche Ausrüstung und längere Tauchzeit gebraucht werden.
