    摘要： A tool for surveying a multi-level elevator hoistway (117) in preparation for installing hoistway rails, the tool having: a platform (240) supporting a spatial range sensor (250) that has an electronic controller (260), the controller receives instructions over a wireless network (290) to measure a first distance (D1) between the platform and a first proximate wall (170P1), and stores or transmits first data representing the first distance (D1); the platform (240) extends from a first side (350) to a second side (360) that are opposite each other, the first side (350) has a first bracket (430) that engages a first guide wire (200A1) and the second side (360) has a second bracket (440) that engages a second guide wire (200A2); and the platform (240) defines a first surface (300) and a second surface (310), and a first coupling link (370) is connected to the first surface (300) for connecting with a rope (210) to raise or lower the platform (240) against the first and second guide wires.
